I took Pepto Bismol before going to beed and in the morning my tongue is all black. I was terrified and I see these posts I am so relieved now.
I don't think you'd get very far. It warns you on the box that it might happen
I just took a Tum Smoothie then went into the bathroom to brush my theeth. My tongue and teeth were dark grey! I couldn't figure out what was wrong. Then I foune these posts and I am sure that is what happened. It wasn't a pepto bismol tablet but I guess it can happen with a chewable3 Tum as well. Funny it never happened before. I can sleep tonight. Thanks
Everytime I take pepto chewable I get a black tongue. Its annoying but usually a good scrub with a toothbrush takes care of it.

I took 2 pepto chewables before bed and this morning my tongue is black. I am very relieved to know, I am not the only one. Although no one mentioned why this happens. Does anyone know why the pepto causes it?? Is it safe?

Las night I had an upset stomach so I took some pesto bismol. When I woke this morning, my tongue was completely black. I freaked out so I immediately looked online for any helpful information to understand what was going on. Here is where I learned about the pepto bismol black tongue! I was somewhat releived to learn I wasn't alone but still concerned why this happens and what is the root cause. While common, it doesn't sound normal. I am setting up a dr. Appt to learn more
