I woke up with one today never again will I take it milk of mag or something for real lol
I woke up this morning ,and didn't notice till I brushed my teeth! I had a black tongue and sputum! I have taken petpto liquid for over 40 years, when needed, never did that too my tongue, just the tablet. Think I will stick to liquid!

Thanks ever so much! Ha,ha,ha,.. I was wrestling with myself also on what the heck did i eat to turn my tongue black? I had no idea this happened when taking Pepto Bismol before bed.... I am so relieved......
i see all the commets that the tongue goes black but why? whats in the tablet thats not in the liquid that makes it work different? Is it harmful to use long term if you have this happen?
This just happened to me this morning... Totally black tongue. Was able to brush it off. I did wake up around 1:00 am and chewed two Pepto bismol tablets. Thank goodness I saw all the posts. I rarely have Pepto; so weird these pink tablets can cause black tongue.

Omgggggggggggggggggggggggg I took two Pepto tabs last nite and woke up tasting something sweet. Looked in the mirror and my teeth and tongue were black. I freaked out!!!! Thank goodness I read this. Thanks
Thank you Jesus. I had the same horror story this am and rushed to the computer to google what was wrong. Didn't even think about the Pepto Tabs. WEW! I thought I had a fungus raging in side of me! lol
Yeah I actually did take a pepto bismol tablet chewed it just as getting in bed, and was scared this am when i looked and had black on teeth and my tongue was so black. Thank you for posting this, I feel better. But why does it do that?
I took chewable Pepto bismol tablets last night and woke up with faded black marks on each side of tongue. I spent all morning scraping my tongue, thinking I have some serious disease and then I saw your post. So glad that I now know what it is and that someone else can relate to this! It is the strangest thing
Omg I just worked up I'm freaking out its so scary I just start taking the tablets a week ago and i took one last night all of a sudden I woke this morning and my tongue is black I start crying I'm so scared
But the cause was the eating at the biggest fast food place in USA after midnight. I thought I was turning into a gremlin.
