I am going for surgery to correct hammertoe on the 2nd toes of both my feet in 2 days!! When i spoke to the doctor about recovery he said that i could just walk on my heels?? I'm wondering if i should get crutches because walking on my heels all the time will become quite uncomfortable eventually!!

What should i do?

Hi, you honestly won't need crutches for long.  I found my crutches on CraigsList for way cheaper than buying them brand new - I had a major bunion repair done almost 3 months ago.  You'll get used to hobbling along as it is so much better than having crutches stuck in your armpits for the entire day.  So, your choice.  Also, the Red Cross borrows/loans equipment with a doctors referral.

Salvation Army and goodwill often loan crutches. They ask that you return them when you're done. That might save you some money
