I never missed a period since the age of thirteen years..every twenty one days exactly. Last month my period never came. I was expecting on or
about Oct. 1, 2 or 3. Today, Octtober 23, and nothing. I saw my Doctor
last week. Negative for pregnancy test. He said I started Menopause.
This is a different language for me, I am 48 and a birthday soon. ??

Thanks to everyones comments I am 50 years old and for the past year I have been going through all the hot flashes memory lost.

I cry for stupid reasons this is oct of 2012 and I asked my husband to pick up the punkins for holloween and a cutting kit.  He asked why we needed a cutting kit when a knife works as well and I cried. when he asked me why I was so senstive I realized what I was going through and stoped crying.I still have my period as normal. So I guess it will be the last to stop.I must say I hope it stops soon.I just wish I knew how much longer it will cont. thanks again ladies.

Thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences.  I just turned 47, have 3 kids ages 12, 8, and 7, and had my first missed period this month, along with frequent and disturbing hot flashes.  It is my sincere hope that this is menopause because I, too, am just plain tired of periods.  Just to be certain, I took a pregnancy test last week and again this week and both were negative.  Bring it on, Mother Nature - I am ready to join the post-menopausal group!

After sifting through all the post from pregnancy, to tubal ligation failure rates, this has been the most helpful and enlightening. My period is about 3 weeks late, negative HPT, I've had hot flashes for maybe about 2 weeks. But the kicker in your post was the lol! post-it pads all over the place! Me Too! Never thought of that being a sign.

This is so funny, while reading all the stories about menopause and the memory loss, I was warming up something in my microwave, while waiting I'm reading these post wondering why I keep hearing a faint beep, it was the microwave that I forgot I was warming up something to go in the salad that I have now finished! Thank you guys for some relief and laughter! I needed because I have been stressing to the max that I could be pregnant at 47 after a tubal ligation.

Hi everyone,

I'm 52 and my periods have always been pretty regular, but that last 12 months they have been every 21 days or so. I have noticed a change in them, like one month I can bleed quite heavily for 7 days and then another month, I hardly bleed at all.  I have, these past 3 months been taking 1300mg of Evening Primrose oil and the irritability has calmed right down as I used to get really angry and tetchy over silly things, some months I could cry at the drop of a hat.  I haven't had a period now for 2 months, which is very unusual for me, & whilst I am enjoying not having one, I worry something may be wrong?  I will leave it another month and then if nothing happens I will go speak to my GP, she specializes in Gynecological issues.

The book "wisdom of Menopause" is very helpful. 49 & just starting down this road with hot & cold at night, some extra headaches, now late a week, so ordered Progest from amazon today, recommended in the book & natural. Hope it helps!

Thankyou so much becauseI thought it was me losing my mind I have always had memory to die for but now I am slipping and was so devastated in thinking that I was losing my mind but to find out its normal in menapausal woman than I feel better. I am going to be 50 in March and since last january have noticed that i am going through Menapause even though I have had my periods all along but just how i was feeling. I am a suummer person and it never bothered me whether it was 40 deg I was at the beach or pool all day sunbaking and getting a tan now I just peek through the blinds and if I see strong sun I close my self in and dont venture outside for nothing just stay in all day under Aircon. Winter is no better my children and husband no oen sits with me because the doors are wide open regardless if its under zero because I have no hot flushes I am hot all the time for someone that never sweated I now have sweat dripping off me just by simply vacuuming. My periods have not come now for 8 weeks and I have put on about 10kg in the last 2 years without eating more actually i eat so much less and since I was always so active and looked after myself this has been the hardest the extra weight and the constant tiredness. I just would love to know how to lose weight as i could lose weight so easy before up to 3kg a week now i cannot loose 3kg a year pelase help
