My menopause is gone now. That was the last period in my life. I am not sure, was that normal or not but it just stop. My doctor says that it is ok and that in some women it happens like that. What about you? Does your period just stop or it stops eventually?

I think that my period will stop eventually. I have been having this perimenopausal symptom for two year, but my period is still appearing from time to time. They are not regulating, as they used to be, but still are present. Often I think of this as torturing. Also, I think that you are incredibly happy because your period just stops. There is no chance to surprise you in inconvenient time.

I too am 46, and about 4 months ago I started with the headaches. joint pain, and a little depressed from time to time, then my periods stopped for a little over 30 days then returned. I now have not had a perioud since November 6. So I am on my way. I refuse to do any hormone therapy. I do excercise it helps keep me fit as well as mentally fit. If I could just remember things more I would be fine, I often feel like I'm walking around in a fog. I notice recently I don't remember like I use to. Oh another thing, I notiice I tire easily. Is this gonna last for 5 more years? YUK.

I have not had a period since 2003 Lovin it!!!!! I was done with the whole meno thing by the age of 47. The first time i missed my period, i really didn't put much thought into it. Then i missed another and another, and here we are today, no periods at all.
I was under a hugh amount of stess at that time and i thought it was due to that, but i guess not. I do have residual issues now tho. My memory is not to good anymore, i am gaining weight, not much but i know i'm gaining it. I still get the sweats especially at night while i am trying to sleep and i will argue with the devil at the drop of a dime.
The thing that bothers me most is my remembering stuff. I will go into a room for a specific reason and suddenly can't remember what i'm there for. I will set something down, and can't remember where i put it. I forget to make important phone calls and when i do remember to make the call, i sometimes forget what i'm calling for. :$ :$
I have resorted to sticky notes. Sticky notes all over the place. I keep a pad of paper next to the phone at all times, and have attached it to the wall next to the phone as i would take the pad to another room and forget where it was. The worst thing is i forget where my glasses are. I just need them for reading, so i went to the dollar store and bought a bunch of reading glasses which are all over the house.
It sometimes sucks to get older, but at least i am not bothered by those ghastly periods all the time.

Thanks so much for your post. I can relate to you soo much. Especially about the reading glasses. I too have purchased many pairs from the dollar store. for laughs, just last week I found a pair in my refridgerator that I have in my garage for overflow. Everytime I can't find something I blame my husband (LOL). I am definetly on may way to menopause and I consider it a blessing because some people were not so lucky to see this age. I have to remind myself of that often. Thanks again for your post. I would love to discuss any new smptoms with you. I wonder how long this whole process will last. Oh by the way got my period today.
thanks again bbfeet9.

You are so welcome misslady. I had to laugh about the refridgerator thing, because i put my car keys in ours, which is in the garage as well. I had bought some extra cases of pop for the holidays and as i was taking them from the car and putting them in the fridge, there sat my keys. I tore my house apart and must have turned my purse inside and out a dozen times. My daughter went to grab a pop and came back into the kitchen jingleing the keys and laughing. "Are these what you have been looking for" I thought it was funny myself. But now, the keys wouldn't unlock the car door until they warmed up because of the remote. I had gone grocery shopping and stopped at the service desk to buy a lottery ticket, proceeded to shop, checked out and went to the parking lot. Looking for my keys to unlock the door, can't find them. The wind was blowing and it freezing and i am, once again, tearing my purse apart. A cart boy saw me and came out, yes, with my keys. They know me at the store, so i was lucky. I had left them on the counter while buying the ticket.
Oh man, not much to do but laugh. I blame everything on my husband to.
And the dogs and the cats, anybody but me. :-S

Have you tried taking gingko or ginko brahmi for memory loss? I swear it works. I've got a job where I have to be really on the ball and I know I'm not as sharp as I used to be but this seems to take away that "why am I here" fog. I keep it on my desk just so I remember to take it!!!!

Hi I guess I just joined the menopause club. I haven't had a period since 2/10. I am thinking this is it. I had my hormones check and they were normal. I go to the GYN on 4/28/10 for my annual and hoping he tells me all is well. I am 48 I have always been regular except when I was pregnant. I know thats not the case. I had a tubal in 1991. I haven't had any other symptoms and I am praying that I don't. I hearing the different symptoms and scenarios of going through menopause. I feel great so far. Please wish me luck.

Man, you guys are so lucky! I can't wait to stop having the period. It's brutal. And I'm 52. I did manage to go 6 weeks before my period came twice. I was so excited and hopeful. Bleh. I guess at least I'll have a delay in the post menopause problems and ostereoperosis(?).

I guess I have to take the good with the bad. I do wish it would hurry up though.

Wow! What a revelation to hear you guys talking about the self same symptoms I'm going through. Especially Misslady about the keys! Hilarious. All the time I'm losing them.
That and the periods which crippled me, and which seem to have stopped?? At 54, it's about bloody time! I find the arguementativeness gets everyone down who happens to be in the line of fire, and my train of thought is fogged by anxiety and weird unspoken fears; sleep disturbed too. Plus I keep breaking out in red hot flushes like I'm in Death Valley or something, I have to open doors and windows when in one.
I'm planning to deal with this new 'change of life' as they used to call it, just like anything else we have to deal with. Having a 12 year old who's just started her periods doesn't help, or perhaps it does. For me personally, being menopausal is made up for by the fact I have a young daughter! I think I got her just in time!
This is what I propose...... take some of that gingko biloba for a start, it really does help forgetfulness. Take other supplements that work for you. Like B12 and evening primrose even though you may not be having periods. Try to cut down on being everything to everyone - it is overload and I think leads to depression. Easier said than done if you've a family and have to go out to work, but otherwise you're going to get very stressed out and depressed. I think the stress adds hugely to menopause symptoms and to the person herself. Anyway, it passes, that's about the only thing going for it! >:(

I am 46 years old. I have two kids ages 4 and 8. And I too have not had a period in 3 months. Thank you for all of the advice especially in regards to the Ginkgo. I seem to have a lot of problems with my attitude. My patience is zero. Any advice about that? Also, I have had a rapid loss in sex drive. That is NOT good!! I work out, ride my bike and take fish oil and flax seed everyday.. I guess I will contact my gyno. I do not wish to take any hormone replacement.. I fell I may be a little depressed too..... These are all very unusual events in my life.. The change is part of nature.. Any advice??
