Hi, help me with my problem, or should I say with my father’s problem. He is 71 years old and has stents implanted because of the blocked coronary arteries. It looks like his lifestyle that included a lot of bad food finally got him into trouble. Anyway, he got standard stents, but I have heard that there are some new models, drug releasing stents for example. What is the difference?

The main problem regarding stents is in the organism itself. Will it accept that foreign object easily or not? This means that serious swelling might occur at that spot and that might create some further complications. Drug releasing stents has substances in it that are released from time to time to subdue the swelling and make the implantation process go smoothly.
