A podiatrist just did hammer toe surgery on the 2nd toes on both feet.  I went to him because my 2nd toes are so long that they are painful at the tips of the toes.  They punch holes in my socks, drag on the bed covers, they take the brunt of everything that contacts my foot the way the big toe is meant to do, but my 2nd toe is at least a half inch longer.  So he did hammer toe surgery and when I woke up and realized my 2nd toe is not any shorter than it was before the surgery, he said he "misunderstood' what it was I wanted.  I quoted our conversation verbatim, wherein I told him the source of the pain and that I need my 2nd toes shortened to no longer than the length of the 2nd toe.  He made comments that indicated he understood.  I was very upset when I saw him a week after the surgery and he apologized for his error, but said he can remove the pins early (he was going to leave them in 6 weeks).  He said he can remove them after 2 or 3 weeks and that will shorten the toe.  Is this true, that this can significantly shorten my toe?  I don't trust him now.  Somebody please help me!
