I decided to do endometrial ablation. I had hard time because of my heavy uterine bleeding; it limited all my activities, and I became anemic and tired. I talked to my gynecologist and we discussed other solution, but he said that only thing that can help me is endometrial ablation. I have no kids, and if I understood right, after this I wouldn’t be able to get pregnant. I talked with my husband about it. We are both in 40’s so we decided that it would be ok. Anyway, I would like to know details about procedure of endometrial ablation and recovery. Thank you for help.

Endometrial ablation is a removal of endometrium, which is lining of the uterus. It is used as alternative for hysterectomy for many women with heavy bleeding. After the procedure most women will have a little or no menstrual bleeding. It can be done in several ways, with hysteroscope for example. Most of the women are able to go home few hours after; occasionally strong medicine might be needed, like ibuprofen. Some may feel mild cramping for two weeks, and it is also normal to have increased discharge for 2 to 4 weeks afterward, as the lining is shedding.
