Hi all. I’m 37 and generally healthy. But, several months ago, I began to experience increasing pain in my hands and feet which grew increasingly worse. At first the pain was less severe and I did not pay too much attention to it. But, lately it has gotten really severe. Moreover, my knuckles are enlarged too. What this could be??? Is this something serious that I should see my doc for???

These symptoms certainly look like rheumatoid arthritis. It is not something too serious, even though it is a little early for you to have it. Anyway, you should have this checked by your doc. If so, you’ll probably need to take something like an ibuprofen few times a day. Take care.

I would agree with Willi. I have had this same pain in both of these areas in addition to several other joints in my body for the past 7 months. I am now on the waiting list to see a rheumotologist as my blood tests revealed a high level of C-reactive protein, which I have been advised indicates swelling in body and elevated levels on the sediment test. These are simple blood tests the family doctor did. He did also do the Rhemotoid factor but it so far has come back negative. This is normal as sometimes early on with rhemotoid it does not show up with blood testing. I would suggest you speak to your family doctor about these symptoms.
