excessive body hair irregular perionds not opose

I know you wrote this last year, but I just stumbled upon it. My 16 year old had the same problem. Only thing is the excess hair was on her face, and she is loosing her hair on her head. We took her to her OBGYN he said she had symptoms of POS. Polycystic ovarian syndrome. You can google it because I may not have spelled it correctly. She is on the birth control pill now to get her hormone levels straightened out. Its only been 3 weeks so we wont know anything until about the 3rd month of taking the pills.

I Know this is an old post, but for anyone else with the same issues (as myself, and the original poster) This is caused by PCOS, Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome, like Shelial wrote.

I have just finished my Pills for the 3 months, and have to start a new back when I get back to my doctor. It was helping me some what.

If anyone has any questions....feel free to ask away, I will be willing to help.

BTW...I'm a 20 year old that finally decided to go to the Doctors this year, I know I have had this problem since I hit puberty...I have never been regular, I should have gone years ago, it would have helped all the heartache and self esteem issues. So thats a warning...please see your doctors early, Don't hold back like I did, even if you hate being there (I hate it...I get shaky even when I'm there) But please go.

Hi, I just wanted to say that I have the same problem, and the excess hair is only in the face... I didn't want to take birth control because I'm TTC, but before I do that I must regulate my periods by balancing out my hormones, and I found an alternative to BC.

I started taking Vitex (3 capsules in a.m. & 2 capsules in evening = 2000 mg total) because it's said to regulate hormones and regulate periods... well, I haven't gotten a period yet but have noticed that my facial hair is coming in less and less, and is very fine with the exception of a few hairs I find too thick/dark so I pluck those. (more of a habit than anthing else lol)

I get my Vitex @ Puritans Pride (www dot puritanspride dot com) and It's cheap too! You don't have to be TTC to take this, you could take it to simply regulate periods and balance out hormones enough to get rid of the facial hair.

Hi, thanks for posting about Vitex....I'm going to look it up, but what exactly is it? Is it an over the counter thing?

hmmmmm just looked up a breif write up about it, and it can effect brith control.....just a side note! I will look more into it, its interesting but I mgiht need more info before I go out and get some, talk to my doc first of course.
