Hi, folks. My friend felt some pain in kidney area and went to see a doctor. He went to several tests. At the end, he was diagnosed with perinephritic abscess. I would like to know something more about this condition. I would appreciate if anyone could give me some good explanation. Thanks.

Hi, there. Perinephritic abscess is a suppuration of the connective tissue that surrounds the kidney. It is caused by infection. This infection usually comes from the surroundings. Those could be: nephritis, pyelonephritis, but some other non-kidney inflammations such as appendicitis, hepatic or splenic abscess, tubes or ovaries. It can also be a result of local injury.
