I have woke up last night to find my left eye crusted with blood and blood on the pillow. I can't tell whether the blood is coming from the eye or the eye socket. What is happening?

See your doctor, ASAP. My son had this same problem, only blood was from both eyes. He had SEVERE conjuntavitis which was caused from his contacts. You don't need to wear contacts to pick up this virus. He was kept over nite in the hospital so it could be determined exactly where the blood was coming from.
It was not coming from the socket but from the conjunctiva, there fore he developed conjuntavitis. Medication was given along with a medicated eye bath. He no longer wears his contacts but has relunctantly turned to glasses.
I can not believe how much blood comes from the eye. Both of them were so red you couldn't see his brown eye ball. I gotta tell ya, it scared the c**p out of me. See your MD right away.
