I have been getting really bad eyesight since I have been diabetic.  Now the doctor wants me on insulin.  The doctor said that the insulin will help the body get the energy it needs with the help of insulin.  I was wondering if that the body gets its energy, will my eye sight improve too?  Has anyone out there had a improvement in eyesight from taking insulin?

There have been cases where people have had some improvement with their eyesight once their blood sugar has been undercontrol.  To say insulin helps, I would say it would be more of a question of "if it helps maintain optimal blood sugar, will my eyesight get better?"  This is what I would see as the more accurate sense of what would happen.  Insulin would not enter the eye and heal it, but it can lower blood sugar.  This would mean less glucose to damage the vessels of the retina (eye) leading to poor eyesight or blindness.  Your doctor is right about the cells of the body needed glucose to function; glucose is the energy the cell needs to survive.  If anyone has anything to contribute about their diabetes and eye health, feel free to share you experiences.
