Update!

I was contacted by the Dr. today just hours after my ultrasound. She urgently needed me to come back in, when I arrived at the office I was informed that I had a cyst the size of a grapefruit in my abdomen. She then informed me that I would need to undergo surgery to drain it. So during the week I will be going under a series of tests such as blood samples, a cat scan and further medical examinations to determine the cause and the severity of the cyst, after which I will undergo the surgery. I will keep you posted as progress is made.

I have had the same problem for several years but only a handful of times. When I bend over acutely to do something from a seated position I get a terrible muscle cramping feeling under my left rib cage, almost like a charli horse. And it feels like it hardens up like a rock and then slowly relaxes. After this time it remains sore for a few weeks. Of course my mind runs wild with some terrible aliment, but it sounds like for most this is nothing serious. I did go to the Dr one time but she didnt seem overly concerned and I felt foolish for going. Although here I am again, I gave the dog a bath while sitting in a chair and was really bent over in the chair and then bam it struck that intense cramp pain that feels like it gets as hard a rock. It has continued to stay sore and Ive contemplated going back to the dr but I feel like they will think I'm crazy. Any suggestions?

Hello everyone who gets pain under their rib cage when bending. I spoke to my surgeon about this & he told me that we have nerves under our skin and when they get squashed that is what's causing the pain, even though I could swear it's my liver getting caught under my ribs. I've only had this since I had my gall bladder taken out. Be very careful bending over especially if you are reaching between your legs like I did when I was weeding one day.

Hi. I found out from my surgeon that we have nerves inside our bodies as well & that they being caught is what causes the pain. I had my gall bladder a few years earlier so my guess is having the extra space allows this to occur. Hope you have found some other answers by now.

I am going through the exact same thing! I was starting to think I was completely crazy until I read your post. The numbness is troubling it is so hard to explain to someone that hasn't experienced it. My dr said I dislocated a rib and is sending me for more tests . The pain is tolerable yet very annoying. I have also felt the sensation of something popping out under my ribs when I bend over. It is so uncomfortable I am not able to wear anything constrictive near the area. I am keeping this page bookmarked and hope that myself and others find answers.

My symptoms are exactly like yours. It started with like a pin and needle sensation by my right breast and then I had dreadful swelling. So sore too as if something is rubbing against my rib and when my abdomen swells I can feel a little lump which is sooo tender and sore! I had had two ultra sounds.. all blood tests are okay, they mentioned ulcer and possible IBS., even hernia.. I have been on stomach acid tablets (this is my second month) and I have to say that has helped a lot, I don't feel so ill.. but still get where I have to go to the loo all of a sudden and my stools have been loose for well over a year now.. not really loose, but thinner and the smell is not pleasant.. I was also wondering whether it was a food intolerance? They keep fobbing me off saying it is stress.. it is this awful condition which is making me stressed and the fact the GP's keep patting me on the back saying that there is nothing to worry about and to de-stress.. so fed up :(

Hello everybody, it has been a while since anybody has replied. I, like many others, am feeling a irrititable sensation when I sit down or bend over. It is right under my lowest rib cage on the right side. I am 19 years old and am 5'10 155 pounds. My symptoms are: Shortness of breath(sometimes) Mild pain under my lower right rib This pain started about 5 days ago and has lowered in pain over the past few days. It could also be that my pain tolerance has but up. I went to visit my doctor and he ordered a blood test and a urine sample because he thought that my liver was swollen when he checked it, which is a sign of mono. The blood test was negative for mono and he said it could just be a pulled rib muscle. I went to a Sacramento kings game the day before the pain started, but the only excercise that day was 20 push-ups. That was the only day I had worked out for the whole week. The next day it hurt. I do recall eating a lot of fast food the day before. I went to Arby's and Sonic and ordered more than usual. I think it may have to do with my liver having to process more fat than usual. Many people say this pain relates to gallstones, but my doctor claims I am a healthy and young individual. He called me yesterday to see how I was doing and I told him I felt fine and he said I didn't need to go to an ultrasound appointment that I had if I was feeling better. But the mild pain is still apparent. I will schedule an ultrasound appointment in the morning. Speaking of morning, that is when the pain hurts the most.

This is crazy cuz I have been experiencing the same thing for almost a year now. I've had ct scans, sonograms, ultra sounds, endoscopy, xrays...I've seen many doctors and specialist & they still donknow what it is. It is not from being over weight. (I am not over weight) it literaly looks like I am pregnant but I am not (they say) my stomach keeps bloating, I have been gaining weight rapidly for the past couple mths and the drs still don't have an answer. Its so uncomfortable and causes pain every time I bend over because it seems that something moves outa place and it hurts but when I stand up it goes back into place and then the pain stops but it stays uncomfortable. This makes no sence because it seems as though a lot of us are going threw the same thing but no1 has any answers. I like how people just try to blame it on being fat. I can assure u it does not have to do with a persons weight cuz I've been going thre this for awhile now. Yes its causing me to gain weight but it started before I was heavy. I just want answers for us all who are experiencing the same issues.

I had the same exact symptons, and this is what happened. First of all I'd like to point out that I'm 19, male, tall (1.93m) but very skinny (66kg) not by choice, I don't have the healthiest lifestyle but so far haven't had too many issues. After suffering from these identical symptons I went to my local hospital, they did some x-ray scans and it turned out I had some bubbles of air and fluid between my lungs and pleura (I hope that's the right term, I'm Swiss), they deemed it necessary to operate, so here I am hospitalized and with a drainage system attached just under my left nipple.. To be honest I could've gone on for weeks and weeks with these pains, gritting my teeth each day but that's the wrong thing to do... it's a serious problem and I'm writing this for all the people who feel reassured by the fact there are endless posts by people suffering by the same thing, who haven't taken it seriously yet either.. hope this helps ;)
