Hi. I have had a sensation of something under my right rib, I can only describe it as a hardness. With a feeling of numbness, for a few months now. At times it also feels scratchy, and it moves around. I am really just trying to find out what it could be. Has anyone managed to get a diagnosis???

when I had problems with my gall bladder it was a pain in the center of my stomach like bad heart burn then I started throwing up...I went to the hospital to get an ultra sound done and I had over 30 stones they took me straight to surgery, that was 10 years ago. Now I get a sharp in my side below the ribs..it;s there the whole time I am bent over and for a few minutes after I get out of the bending position, Does anyone have any ideas of what this could be?

I have the same thing as well. That is a great way to describe it as a Charlie horse pain. I also get the same feeling on my left side if I bend over or twist my left side. So mine is on both sides. I had a heart transplant 3 1/2 years ago and have shrunk about 2 inches from prednisone destroying my bones. I was wondering if mine was because I had shrunk. My doctors dont seem to be concerned either. It is very frustrating though when I need to bend over and then I feel like I am paralized with pain for 2-3 minutes. Mine contracts like a muscle spasm/charlie horse.

Wondering if you have had any success identifying the cause of the sensation? I have the same thing when I bend at the waist, it feels like a balloon is blowing up really quickly. Doesn't hurt, just feels like it is blowing up inside of me. My concern has been the possibility of an aneurism. Where you tested for that as well?

Hi, I have had something rolling over my ribcage just as you stated, and I quickly push it back in place. Xray, and lying flat CT showed nothing. I have seen 2 doctors. One called it fat, the other wanted me to take acid indigestion pills. Please tell me that you have found your diagnosis since 2008? I hope you have and can share with me. Thanks so much, Tired of Rude Drs.

I don't know if any are still suffering from this but it most definately could be phantom nerve/back pain causing the symptoms of the stomach pain, this has been concurrent with me for a number of years, had ultrasounds and blood tests and urine samples but when I went to a massage therapist, osteopath and physical therapists through my years of travelling and working I have found every time that it relieves this intermittent dull uncomfortable pain, I rarely drink alcohol and I am the opposite to inactive now, but I realised I don't drink anywhere near enough the water our body requires everyday which I have realised contributes to it too.
Guys, have you ever been mindful that the reason we can have other additional symptoms to one problem is because of the stress we are putting our body under, in everyday life, and worrying about these symptoms. For example-Diarrhea, heartburn, headaches, and even unidentifiable stomach pains...
I've found that googling a load of symptoms you have will not fix you or give you a better idea of how to get better, these health websites do not know what kind of season you are going through in life or your diet or daily activities or lifestyle that undeniably contribute to many of our everyday ailments.
Our brain is very powerful and it has been proven that worry releases bad chemicals into our system, and actually causes ailments and sickness.
And alternately good health promoting, healing chemicals when we laugh, or hug, or love.
So if we worry about it we are not helping ourselves get to a solution of the root problem, but actually just encouraging/activating our body to create more 'false symptoms' if you like.
Anyway I just wanted to share that I have seen a very significant difference in my health seeing massage therapists, stretching, doing Pilates to strengthen my core muscles which all works to help the body have an easier job, AND releases endorphins, and also as I said, now drinking a lot more water...we forget how important water is for our bodies healthy functioning, if it isn't getting enough it always has to compromise somehow...
I have realised how important it is to focus on attaining a healthy lifestyle step by step, and letting all the other pieces fall into place rather than focusing on the health problem and worrying, I am not saying visiting the doctors for a checkup is bad or not to be aware of your body.
But when we make that our focus and obsession if you like, to be determined to find something wrong, that's where we are headed ANC nowhere else, with worry on our mind-to eventually cause something serious enough in our body to show up, all for that initial said determination in worry and to find something 'medical' to fix from 'symptoms'.
It is important to be aware of all the aspects of life that may be contributing to out pain or discomfort or ailments, mine was so bad that I could not lie on my stomach without immediate pain for 8 years!! I can lie on my stomach fine now! And I know it is very much so up to focusing on a healthy life style, and giving ourselves regular talc never goes amiss, our body's are intricate engines, but ever so simple for us to look after if we just start out in that direction and keep dis loonies I give it what it needs rather than 'what we want'
Some thought provoking stuff to think over...
I hope this perspective is helpful to someone,
Sincerely
Sophie

I have this same feeling under my right rib cage and a dull pain at times in the same area on my back. I too thought after having my gallbladder, which had no stones when removed but had ceased to function and had shriveled up, would solve the weird feeling, but it did not. I have done some full body cleanses and thought that solved it but it comes back again. An ultrasound does show a fatty liver, non alcoholic, as I have never liked alcohol, I am hoping to resolve the fatty liver with a complete change in my diet and see if the problem is fatty liver. The diet excludes sugar, white flour, white rice, bacon, white rice, fats and potatoes. I lived on foods made from these things prior. My doctor was not alarmed by the fatty liver and had said a great percentage of the USA has fatty liver, so I did nothing for a couple of years, but after reading about liver failure and diabetes coming from advanced fatty liver I woke up. I am in the process of obtaining an appointment with a Gastro Specialist if he has an answer to these symptoms I will post it. Because I too have had a couple of what I think is charlie horses in the upper right quadrant, the last one was three weeks ago prior to Zumba during a stretch and from that point on this weird low grade pain in the right upper quadrant and weird moving sensation at my lower rib has not ceased to happen. Also when I bend or sit it feels as though it is pushing on my lower ribs. I have lost 6 pounds by eating right and drinking no sugar juices but to be at a proper weight for my I could stand to lose 14 more. I have belly fat or bloat even above my navel, not uncommon for someone in my advanced years, but is it due to fatty liver, which can be reversed, or is it something more serious? I have lost two daughters to cancer, so I know that ignoring health issues or not pressing in when a doctor is just making a guess at what could be the problem is not a good decision.

This sounds like what I have been going through for 10 years now. The Pins and needles description hits home with me especially as it was hard to describe to someone else what it feels like. I called it "like getting the cold chills only in that area". Have you found out what it is?

I have had this same feeling and feel full even after eating a small meal for a couple of years. In pain when I overeat (I have to lay down to rest). I guess it prevents me from overeating, but went for ultrasound to check for gallstones and found out I have non alcoholic fatty liver. Don't drink. My primary care physician said the carbs I eat gets deposited into fat in the liver since I am prone to diabetes. I have no hepatitis (already checked). But the weird feeling that used to feel like a small ball rolling under the ribs has become more of feeling a lump when I bend over. I am guessing some kind of hernia. But going today to a liver specialist (gastroenterologist). I have already had tests for celiac's (gluten tolerance) disease and also had an upper GI test. They couldn't find anything wrong with me. Will post what my new specialist says. It is interesting to see so many people with same symptoms.

Finally someone who has the same symptoms as I have. I have been having these pains for years and visited my doctor yesterday. She scheduled an ultrasound which I have just finished undergoing today. I will post the results of this ultrasound when I have them. This is probably a new symptom that doctors are not familiar with as of yet. I too only feel this pain when I reach down to tie my shoes. I normally feel it on my left side just below my rib cage and I too have to sit up straight or stand up quickly to make the pain go away. I too am overweight around my mid section and have been told by my physician that I need to loose 40 pounds to get to my normal weight (180lbs)
From what I have read in the previous posts if I were to diagnose this problem I would pin it on the wight gain. I have started an exercise program to loose the extra pounds and hopefully resolve the problem. I will keep you all posted as I continue to make progress.
