I Have had clear fluid leak from my ears periodically all of my life. +50yrs old. I have super sensitive hearing. I can hear at a extremely high register. Leave It Alone! Yes it itches, but try to deal with that in about a week it clears up 1 to2 mos later it may happen again, over and over becoming an obsession. Try to ignore the process it is a natural process. Drs have told me ears are very complicated and finely tuned organs this process keeps your ears healthy. If wax builds up use Sweet Oil or something similiar to soften the wax and allow it to flow naturally. If this is a new condition check for infection.

Hello: I posted a while back.. 6 months?? about the fluid in my ears that is so annoying.. I wanted to send an update about them.. I did nothing but soak up the "water" with a q tip, very carefully, and as of now, the problem has stopped.. It is something that seems to come and go, but it did go away on its own.. I am still not sure what it is, or what causes it, but I just wanted to let you know that it will come and go..
Thank you for your time.

I just posted below, but you are very correct.. I have had this issue as well for a long time. I have had the Dr look at it, but he had no idea why they would leak. I have discovered the same thing.. The ears will leak now and then, but doing nothing is the best thing to do. I do however clean them out with a q tip, which is discouraged by most,. but it is the only way I can absorb the water.

hey, guys! i have the same problem with my ears; however, i've noticed some circumstances that lead to my ear leakage: it happens when these 3 conditions are met : it's cool in the house (around 69-71 degrees), when my window open and it rains outside; otherwords: my ears leak ONLY when there's significant humidity mixed with cool air. hope it helps)

For those who are NOT experiencing nausea, pain, etc., and are only experiencing " runny ears" (specifically, those whose ears are crusting up), this is an allergic reaction. I would be willing to bet that your nose is frequently stuffed as well, and for the same reason. I have suffered from this off and on for many years and it went away when i started getting allergy shots a long time ago. As soon as I stopped taking shots, it started up again and hasn'tstopped since. It is especially badduring my allergy seasons.
For all intents and purposes, this is "ear snot" and nothing more. Try an allergy medication (or experiment with various ones). This will help.

I have this problem, along with dizziness. Began after a severe concussion 3 years ago, only off and on. 3 weeks ago, woke up with vertigo, adn that's almost gone, but the leaky ear is now worse, and slight dizziness woozy head continues, along with more of a leaky smelly ear increase.
Would appreciate your advice if you are still available. Thanks!

I read this thread last year when my ears were doing this. I don't know if it will help anyone, but the problem went away when I changed jobs and no longer had to wear earplugs while working. Hurray for dry ears again.

About year and half ago my ear started leaking a clear fluid. I had no head injury, so was not worried about it. About nine months after the fluid started leaking my sinuses also started running, so I started looking on the internet for someone having the same symptoms and found this link. I went to the dentist and asked if a dental problem could cause fluid to leak from my ear. He stated that he had never heard of it. I also went to a ENT around one year after it started. He also had never heard of a dental problem causing liquid to leak from the ear. About one year and half after it started, my dentist found decay under one of my caps in the rear of my mouth and pulled two teeth. The fluid stopped instantly.

I had this problem also, and my ENT was stumped. She said she actually witnessed the fluid excrete a drop while she was examining me. She finally prescribed a round of steroids and the problem ceased permanently.
