Hello again,
I was here and told my story of suboxone,( title How suboxone saved my life. ) Today is a big day. I am taking my baby brother to meet a suboxone writing Doctor. My brother must be in full withdrawal to start his suboxone treatment. Boy, do I feel bad for him because I sure remember that feeling. He s on an extremely high dose of pure percocet 10mg ( yah know, the small ones ) and over 350 pills a month. Basically hes no different then a full blown heroin addict right now. His dealer, his Dr. hes had 2 major surgeries , one on his lower back and another on his neck. His neck surgery is fairly recent, just about 6 weeks ago. He does have pain but hes finally at a point where he just doesnt want those pills anymore. I know the suboxone will be a great choice for his steps to recovery. I am hoping we can get him started on the highest dose recommenced which is 24mg a day. If not then at least 16mg a day. I d like to see him stay on this med for at least a year and a half, maybe 2 yrs and then begin his wean down process to kick it. There is alot he needs to do before the time of kicking. This drug will allow him to do it. He still needs to pick his children up at school and function in every way. Once his living arrangement changes ( long story ) , which is in the making, then he will be in his own place and can begin his taper down and recovery from the suboxone. Until then, he sure will need this drug. This drug can be the best stepping ladder to recovery if it is not abuse and used properly. If you are going to snort it and mix it with other drugs and booze well then Im sure youre not going to do well on suboxone. But if you used it and dont abuse it .. its a great way to get your life back on track and educate yourself on recovery and addiction. Hes having a rough morning., hes sick and every thing hurts. Hes very anxious and craving the percocet big time. His DR appt is not till 2pm. So hes just going to have to ride it out. I told him, dont ever ever forget this feeling. You dont want to ever go through this process again. Yes , he will have to go through it to kick the suboxone but lets take one step at a time and just get him on the drug and start his treatment plan. Wish us luck. Have a great day. God be with us all.

I must say you are a GREAT brother and he is lucky to have you helping him thru such a very hard thing!!! I could not have said it any better!! I really wish him well on it, as I too did the suboxone route and after 12 years of methadone (360mgs a day) and then pain management due to illness...I am so very grateful for where I am today and suboxone was a stepping stone to it!!! Good Luck and keep us posted on how he is doing!

Thank you for your feed back. I am his sister. Yesterday went well. They started him on 16mg / 4 mg 4 x a day. He is on his first day today with no percocet and he is responding really good to the subs. Hes knows this is a short term treatment and eventually will have to go through the inevitable withdrawals but thats then and this is now. For now, I just want to be sure he functions and can safely rid his body of such a high dose of percocet. One step at a time, one day at a time. Today is a good day. He was in rough shape yesterday and when we finally were able to fill the subs and he to take one it was a relief to see him up and going again. He still needs work on spiritualism but that is something some one must come to on their own terms, I would never shove my beliefs on anyone. I did tell him how important it will be and left it at that. Will keep you updated. He has read so many negative effects of suboxone and I do understand because I have been there but If this medication is used and not abuse its a great step in the right direction. It worked for me. Yes, I had 9 days of misery when the time came to kick it but lets face it.. there is no way around kicking anything. Its all part of recovery.
