I have now had swollen glands, sore throat, cough and heavy cold for over 5 weeks, I am on my 4th course of anti biotics from the doc, which doesn't seem to be shifting it, It cant be glandular fever as I've already had that so the doc sent me for blood tests and throat swab why?

Your glands are swollen because of the cold. Lymph nodes get swollen if there is an infection in the body, and as much as I can see your body is fighting a long one. You definitely have some virus that is not giving your body an easy time. Your antibiotics don’t seem to do the work. I think your doctor has order the test to see if anything changed from first visit. He will try to find something new and probably give you a new prescription. Have you had any previous situation similar to this one when you were younger? Are you experiencing weakness in the body or any headache? Could this be pneumonia?
