Twenty yeears ago I had an older doctor perform hammertoe surgery on the second toe of my left foot. He left the pin in all this time. It was never removed but has found its way into the top of my foot. My foot hurts when I am on my feet for extended periods.
I saw a new podiatrist this past week and he wants to operate on the toe, and he says this time there willl be no pin inserted.
My only problem is that my husband has been diagnosed this past June with pancreatic cancer. He is still taking radiation. I wonder if I can do this during the two weeks after he finishes radiation and before any chemo is begun. My toe needs to be shortened the length of the toenail to look like the right foot, otherwise my shoe size must be changed for a half larger size, which I do not want. Do you feel I can pull this off as stated?
