Hello, I am 48 years old and each year I go on a regular complete medical check up, including blood and urine test. Unfortunately, the last time, couple of days ago, it was discovered that I have a high sed rate, and I have to go for some more analysis. What does it mean? What possible conditions could I have?
Well, it is too early to be saying anything. Sedimentation rate is actually a level of the accumulated destroyed proteins, which happens because of the high level of the leukocytes in the blood. Most often, all infections might result in high sed rate (including even caries, sinusitis, urinary infections etc). Of course, there is a small chance that it might be something a bit more serious, but as I said, let’s wait for those results.
