Hi, I am very worried about my brother. For the last couple of days he has been acting strange. He has told me that he has evidence that he is from another planet. The story he told me was unbelievable. He believes that the aliens are trying to talk to him through his cell phone and that any day now he will be called to return to his planet. I don't know why he is having these psychotic thoughts. Does he have to be committed, or are there some other types of treatment to help him with his psychotic thoughts?

Hi, psychosis is a serious condition that is induced by some kind of stressful event. Psychotic disorders occur in a form of psychotic episodes that last for couple of weeks. During this period a person has psychotic thoughts similar to the ones your brother is having. The problem with these thoughts is that a person who is experiencing them is not aware of the unbelievable nature of this experience.
