Ok, I'm not here to tell anyone to have this surgery or not to have this surgery. This is a personal option for every individual... Its been 3 weeks and one day today post op for me... I have suffered from hemorrhoids for over 10 years, I just had one large internal and some external cut out during my surgery. I feel that it was necessary for me to have this procedure because I was not able to stand anymore, lift anything or even go to the bathroom because I was in so much discomfort. I'm still healing, so I can't say that I'm glad I had this hemorrhoidectomy... but I'm hoping within the next few weeks when I'm back to myself, I will be happy that I went through with it. You must be patient first of all... Not everyone heals as quickly as others. I still have BM's that feel like I'm passing glass and it burns like fire and I'm still taking my percocets (although I cut down on them a lot)! I am eating high fiber diet, drinking water and doing stool softners, so it just depends on one's body of how fast you will recover.... I'm unable to sit for a long period of time and I am still not able to stand that long or even lift a gallon of milk without the straining pressure down there. So again, I have to be patient.... some people are back to work and recovering wonderfully... which is great! But just remember we are all different and will heal at our own pace! I'm just posting this because I know a lot of us, including myself get impatient and want to heal so quickly and be back to our normal activities... This procedure is a serious surgery and should be treated as one. So good luck to all of you that are having this surgery, or just had it and are dealing with the healing process just like I am.... I hope you all get well soon.... and keep me updated!!!!! Take care to you all.....
I'm always glad to hear from people who are recovering well from the surgery even if it is a difficult surgery to go through becasue ultimately the payoff will be so great for you. Please let us know how you are doing and check in to keep us updated on how you're doing because I'm sure that you'll be feeling great in no time. Thanks for letting us know how you are doing!
Bluedog,
Thank you for your kind words... I will keep you posted... Everday it seems to get a tad better, so I'm dealing with it... Slowly but surely... Can I ask you if you have ever had this surgery? If so, when and what type of surgery did you have? I hope you are doing ok? Take care.. and again, thank you for responding!

Hi there! I actually had not undergone the surgery but my mom did and it was very painful for her. It took her awhile to get over it but I think she perservered pretty well. ANd she did make a full recovery so that was good for all of us! How are you doing now?
Bluedog,
Hi, I'm so happy your mom was able to fully recover from this surgery. I'm sure it was very hard for you to watch her while she was in so much pain! My 3 kids are still worried about me and my boy was laying in my bed with me talking to me last night saying he is worried that I am still in pain. It was so sad, I told him mommy is healing and I get better everyday. Its just hard for him to understand what I just went through... I actually feel a little better since I started on my Antibiotics on Monday, I must take 3 pills a day for a whole month but unfortunely its giving me the poops.. but I'm still going to take them because I don't want to make matters worse by stop taking them. Tomorrow is exactly one month since my surgery.... I'm able to sit a little bit longer and stand a little bit longer but mainly I stay in my room in my bed laying on my side but I make myself get up and walk around... My kids come in my room a lot to visit me or they won't see me much... I try to sit in the chair in the livingroom but its just too uncomfortable... Again, thanks for your response to me and I'm so happy your mom is doing just fine! Take care..

My mom sat out on the couch for most of the time because she wanted the TV, and I think that it was closer to the bathroom than her bedroom, so that's why we set her up out there. Plus I was a little older so I understood it wasn't a life-threatening surgery or anything like that. I think that it took her about two months before she was back to 'normal' so to speak so I think you're getting close! What do you do to keep from getting bored? I imagine you have a lot of books.
Bluedog... Hi there... Well its been almost 5 weeks now post op.. I actually have been up and around this past week... I've been doing some housework and fixing kids their meals and so I'm getting better everyday finally! Ever since I started the antibiotics it seemed to help.... My husband buys me lots of magazines to keep me busy and I watch my favorite shows of course... I'm not going to go back to work until 7 1/2 weeks post op. I don't get in to see the doctor until July 14th, so he will release me that week after he sees me for the second time... I wanted to make sure I was fully recovered because of all the heavy lifting I do at work... So I am recovering finally.... Still uncomfortable at times and still can't sit very long or stand very long but it gets better everyday... So thank you for checking in with me! I'll keep you updated... :-D
Hi there, I'm glad to hear that you're getting family support in this case. My mom and my dad were divorced when my mom went through the surgery so it was us to keep my mom entertained beyond the TV, and she didn't like magazines so it made it all the harder! What do you do for work?
Hi bluedog... I'm really sorry about your parents with the divorce and all... and your mom is lucky to have you to help her during her recovery. Yes I've been blessed to have my husband help me during this difficult time. He's been so good to me... He helps take care of the 3 kids, grocery shopping, cleaning and has to drive 3 hr round trips to get my refills for Percocet... Its illegal to call it in as a prescription I guess, so he has to drive a far distance to my doc's to get the written prescription and drive all the way back home.. So he's been great! As for work, I work at a sporting goods store, so needless to say I lift heavy equipment... Tredmills, trampolines, and a lot of ammunition... so thats why I'm not in a big hurry to rush back to work.. I just don't want to rupture anything and lift all that heavy stuff and put pressure on my bottom.... I'm having some pain this morning with a painful BM, so I took my pain med and now I'm getting a little sleepy, so I'll keep you updated.... Take care...
Hi 3lovelykiddos, I'm glad to hear that you're recuperating so well and thanks for your kind words. The divorce happened so long ago I don't even remember it so it doesn't really affect me but thanks all the same ;-) How are you doing? I'd like to have an update if you're not still sleepy from all your meds XD
Bluedog.. Hi there..... Well I'm now 6 weeks post op today.. I'm not healed completely yet.. It will be probably 8-10 weeks before I will completely recovery... but to let you know how I'm doing... I still have to take my percocet after my BM's simply because I'm bleeding now with clots and the pain during a BM still feels like I'm passing glass and I break out into a sweat and I shake.... My BM's are soft but its just so painful to have a BM.. I'm still convinced I may have a fissure. ? I still have bad days and good days.... and well I was very weak and sore all over today including my bottom because I had to clean out the kids closet with all the old clothes that did not fit and get summer things out for them... I am so tired of being in bed all the time, so I'm trying to do little chores around my house to get myself prepared to go back to work on July 15th... I'm so scared because all I did today was go and get my hair done and right before I left I had a very painful BM with blood and clots and I could not take my percocet because I had to drive... So I could not take one until I got home.. I took my donut pillow with me to sit on but I had to take breaks and walk around the salon a little at a time... Its just like a bad stinging feeling (especially when I sit) and it feels like bees are stinging me over and over again on my bottom.. :'( . I'm so sick of this pain and being dependent. I have always been a independent person and relying on others for so long makes me feel depressed... So I know 2 weeks makes a difference with healing, so I'm going to try to walk around more and do more house work just to get ready to be on my feet 9 hrs a day and do my lifting at work. I don't know how I'm going to do it.. but it seems like many many others that have had this surgery are already back to work and living their normal lives... Wish me luck.... You have a nice 4th of July.. We are leaving tomorrow to a different State to visit my mom for a week... She probably won't let me do anything! LOL.... Its so nice to hear from you... you are such a sweet and caring person... Take care and I will keep you posted... Keep me updated on how things are with you... I feel like I just talk about me.... How rude of me.. Ha ha.. ;-)
Hi there! It's okay to hear about your problems. When I have a problem I'll post my own thread and you can just listen to me talk to my heart's content. Sound like a deal?
I learned from another thread while clicking around today that someone said that you should try leaning forward while having a bowel movement. I don't know if that's something that youv'e been doing but they said it should really help. Do you do that?
