I took BC for 2 weeks and I am having severe migraines everyday for the past 4 days. If I'm having this bad of a time on the lowest dose pill (Gildess 1/20) then I can't imagine how those who have been on it for years feel.
same thing here lightheaded and dizzy since stopping two weeks ago and constant headaches
I stopped the pill about 3 months ago after being on it for 5 years straight. I spent christmas vacation with a non-stop migraine. Sensitive to smells, lights, etc.
I'm about to call my Dr. after the new year.

I hope you are feeling better! And I hope what had happened to me isn't happening to you. How's the headache now? And did you tell your doctor? Somebody has to bring attention to this. The birth control pill is obviously contributing to these issues. Women need to know that this is a risk and possible side effect. My headache has yet to go away. Almost 16 months :(
Hi, thanks for your post. I am just going through this now and I am curious how you are doing now? Did you have to stay on that medication long? I've had constant headaches for the last two months and nothing is helping.
Hey ladies, i've been on my BC for a few years (meliane) and stoped taking them last December. almost immediately after that i noticed a high pressure arround my head that didnt go away with anything (pain killers, more sleep, exersize, acupuncture... nothing), along with a tension pain behind my eyes and forehead :(
After it didnt go away for a long time i started to think i might have a problem... went to see ש gynecologist, otolaryngologist, neurologist.. did lots of blood test, even brain ct.. everything seemed perfectly fine... nobody could told me what is happening to me... its been almost 3 months and i still feel the same. had my first period aready after stopping the pill but the second one is late (not pregnant)... anybody here had the same problem?? i losing any hope it will go away..

Hi, I am wondering how you all are doing?? I stopped birth control pills 3 months ago. For the past 2 months I have had a similar head pressure and tension headache across my forehead, eyes, and nose. It seems to have gotten slightly better over these 2 months, it was horrible when it first started. will this go away soon?? any luck with recoveries??
Hey you, i've been suffering from this head "pressure" and tension for the last 3 months since i stopped my pills in the end of December... i have some days when it seems better but than after a day or so it bad again... i'm frustrated and losing hope everyday that my life will go back the way they were before.. sometimes im not so sure anymore i have this from stopping the pill because 3 months its a long time :(
I just recently went off the pill and I had the worst headache last night and woke up with one. Is it normal? Probably so! But it sucks!
Any body got better with there headache I've been dealing it for two months now.plsss help how to get better.anybody got better with there headache
Same has happened to me. I went off them 2 weeks ago. I am 51 and my dr wants to check where I am in the menopause cycle. Even during the week I didn't take my pill before I stopped I would get a migraine. Now that I've been off 2 weeks I had the worse migraine ever. My vision was blurry( like coming inside after being out in bright sun with no glasses in),every time I turn my head I get dizzy and nauseated.
I haven't stopped BCP yet, but I get hormone-withdrawal migraines on the placebo pill days of my cycle. My doctor adjusted my cycle. Now I take 12 weeks of active pills followed by 1 week of placebo. Still get them, just less frequently. I cannot believe how bad they are. Nothing helps; not Advil, eating, drinking, or caffeine. I can't do anything and yet even resting is agonizing because I can't sleep through the pain. Some days the pain is so bad I become nauseous. One time, I really needed to eat (low blood sugar), but I was in so much pain and was so nauseated that I couldn't. I ended up fainting! When I came to, I vomited my stomach secretions (no food in there). My husband made me some food, I managed to eat a couple bites. I curled up into a ball for two hours until the pain became more manageable. I intend to stop BCP after my next 12 week cycle to allow my body to normalize for pregnancy. I am not looking forward to 3 months of this as many of you have described! It just makes me think, should we ever have taken these pills in the first place? They were presented to me as harmless. This doesn't feel harmless.
I have also had terrible estrogen withdrawal headaches every morning for 10 days now after stopping oral contraceptives (more tension-type / head-in-a-vise rather than classic migraine with nausea and throbbing on one side, but every bit as intense in terms of pain and often with sensitivity to light). Unlike non-hormonal tension-type headaches, which respond really well to NSAIDs like ibuprofen or naproxen and to a much lesser extent Tylenol, the only tried and true thing that brings relief is caffeine. My sister is an OB/GYN and gives the same advice to her pregnant patients suffering from chronic headaches. Often they say they have tried it without success by drinking a coca-cola or tea, but you need a much higher dose caffeine to do the trick. A cup of coffee gives me near instant relief, especially when combined with aspirin. In lieu of coffee, OTC headache relievers with the acetaminophen / aspirin / caffeine combo work equally well, but it takes a little longer before taking effect. Oddly for me, triptans (prescription migraine medications like Maxalt, Relpax, Imitrex, etc.), which are miracle drugs for migraine headaches, are not effective at all against this specific type of headache, and sometimes make it worse by triggering nausea when that's normally one of the best things they treat. I hope this helps some of you and wish you all relief!
So thankful to have come across this thread! I stopped taking BC pills after 16 years of use. I'm 31 years old and wanted to see whether I can still get a period after this long time (trying to rule out fertility issues in case we plan on having kids any time soon). I am a migraine patient and started taking the pill continously several years ago as the pill break and the associated hormonal migraines were almost unmanageable. The first month after stopping the pill was really not that bad. Some hormonal headaches but most of the time I felt fantastic. This really surprised me. I even got a period after roughly one month, which was sooner than I had anticipated. Shortly after the first month was over (and my period) I started getting, what I think are hormonal pressure headaches/migraines, every single day. I'm secretly freaking out. This has been going on fir several weeks now. I cannot concentrate or have a normal conversation. Going to my OBGYN seems a bit early as she will probably suggest to wait a few more months. I'm so used to migraines but these are different from the ones I used to get...they basically start in the morning and last all day. Regular NSAIDs don't really help but actual prescription migraine meds do. This is obviously a problem as I'm not supposed to take them every day. I used to take them about 4x per month prior but this mid-level chronic pain is driving me insane. The visual disturbances I used to get when I was on BC pills are significantly less (I was worried about an elevated stroke risk) and that's one of the reasons I wanted to stay away from the pill. I'm praying that this pain will not continue for another month - I'm already close to caving in. I'm wondering if there is a way to get tested for hormonal deficiencies and/or how we can kick start our natural hormone production with supplements and diet?
I was only on my birth control 3 months before I stopped taking them, now I am dizzy and have sever headaches, making me nauseous and loosing a ton of hair.
