My husband had the TUNA procedure done nearly 4 weeks ago. 5 days ago he went back into the Dr. The Dr replaced the catheter and my husband has an appt to return in 8 days. He is experiencing slow to no urination, constant urge to urinate, etc.
Is this to be expected after this procedure?
Could you elaborate on what to expect during the healing process? We were told 4 to 12 weeks, but that most people experience immediate improvement (one week after procedure), so obviously this is a bit depressing. Any info you have could help us understand what is happening during the healing process would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

How long did the operation last? Has doctor told you what to watch for after the procedure? If I am not mistaking you can take any blood thinners and it is forbidden to do any strenuous activities. You have to understand that there are possible side effects after the procedure like blood in the urine or inability to urinate. Also there will be a lot irritation when he urinates. Sometimes patient can even have urinary tract infection but antibiotics should help to clear the infection out of your system. There is usually period of several weeks before he can feel any improvement in the urinary system. But tell your husband to be patient as much as he can.

All the best,

Danella
