Palpitations are unpleasant sensations, as they can make you scared and make heart beet even faster, as natural response to the stress situation. Palpitations present irregular and forceful beating of the heart. Sometimes, there are no heart disease or abnormal heart rhythms to follow palpitations. So, the reason for palpitations remains unknown. But in most cases palpitations result from abnormal heart rhythms or arrhythmias. Arrhythmias mean irregular heartbeats, that can be too slow, too rapid, or too early. A condition of more than 100 beats per minute is called tachycardias, and slower than 60 beats per minute is called bradycardias. All arithmias can lead to life threatening situations.
