I'd say that heart rates os smokers are different than of non-smokers. But it's hard to compare them. Just because regular people heart rates vary a lot depending on the situation, lifestyle, genes. To compare you'd have to have absolutely identical 2 groups of people where one group is smokers and another is not :-)
However, our research in Stanford shows that heart rate variability parameters change when people smoke. I.e. heart rate within a specific interval is different than normally when you smoke.
