Hi girlysprinkles, its important not to make a big deal out of this. It is great that you are having a go. do some training to give yourself the best preparation possible, eat healthy food and get plenty of rest in the days before sports day. If you start to feel nervous do some deep breathing to calm yourself down. And if you can, picture yourself running well in your minds eye. The brave people in life are people like you who give things a go, not the people who criticise others if they fail. Give it your best shot but remember even if you don't win, you did more than anyone who is sitting in the sidelines. Even Olympic athletes lose races, but they keep trying. Secondary school seems so much bigger than primary school, and you are at the bottom of the hierarchy again. But people are unlikely to judge you. Most people are too concerned about themselves to bother thinking about how you run. Have a great day. Good luck abs all the best

getting into 300 m race isn't easy and winning it is even harder :) that type of running demands fast running, about 80% sprint. Not easy at all to go through 300 meters with 80% sprint... Heart beat will go up. :)

But...

Since 2 weeks is well... in about 2 weeks, you do not have much time to prepare - but you do have the time to see what are you getting into :)And prepare yourself to be the best you can be. I think that should be your measurement of success.

I recommend that you first try what is like to run (sprint) for 300 meters... and sort of get a feeling what is it like...if possible measure your time each time you do it, and see if you're getting better and what it feels like when you're faster, slower etc. Basically every phone has a stopwatch, so measuring your time shouldn't be a problem ...

After trying it you will know:

- can you run with faster tempo and it feels like

- are you too fast for your physical condition - for example are you loosing the tempo at the end

Your tempo should be stable, and once you reach end you will definitely be out of breath (it's basically a sprint ... ), so don't take being out of breath as a measurement of being too fast.

if you ask me , your measurement of success should be fast and steady tempo. as I said you will be out of breath at the end of a run, but you shouldn't feel pain or similar and your breathing should stabilize in a few minutes!

Good luck, hun! I'll be cheering for you! :) let us know how it was!
