I am 50 yrs old and recently had blood tests done for my annual exam. I have some questions in regards to some of the results. I have talked to my doctor about them, but he kind of just glossed over them and did not really tell me what they might mean. Below are the ones I am concerned with:

Component Your Value Standard Range Flag
Vitamin D25 hydroxy 18 30-100 ng/mL L
Plt 485 150-450 K/uL H
Abs lymphs 3.7 0.8-3.3 K/uL H
GFR non African Amer 59 >59- mL/min L

I know you cannot tell me exactly what my results might mean, as you do not know my medical history, if you could give me an idea some idea what to look for, I would appreciate it. Also, I have not had my spleen for over 25 years.

Thanks.
I'm not a doctor so I'm not entirely to sure what the results mean either, but if your doctor glossed over them and didn't really see anything to worry about, are you still anxious about it? Have you considered getting a second opinion to see if your results are unusual or did you decide to talk to someone here first? Please let us know what it turns out to be okay?

Low Vit D levels can make you tired and cause you issues with aching musles.
I discovered last year that I have low Vit D levels (17 on your scale) and was prescribed 15,000 units of Vit D taken 2 times per week.
I do this for three months at a time.
My Vit D levels never seem to stay up and I'm not sure why. I get plenty of sunshine. However, when I do take these large untis of supplements it helps with fatigue and body aches.
Your doctor did not say anything about the low Vit D levels?
You should be taking a supplement. However since you had your spleen removed I would be sure to ask the doctor before taking large doses. I do know that large doses of Vit D can affect your liver.
Might be a good idea to phone the doctor's office and ask if you can take supplements. That way your safe.
As for the other readings I do not know what they mean. Sorry!
Sometimes when I have blood work done I will just do a search on the Initials before the numbers and it will lead me to the info I am searching for.
Hope this helps.
