I don't think you need to be worried but yes he needs to see a doctor for that. That is not normal at all, the penis should not just start bleeding like that. Tell him to get that checked out no matter how scared, nervous or embarrassed he is. This is his health.

It will most likely be bleeding due to a torn frenulum. One time my boyfriend and I were having vaginal sex and he went in dry, which tore his frenulum and he bled. It's due to not enough lunrication, and therefore the foreskin gets pushed too far back, which causes the skin that holds the foreskin to the head of the penis to tear a little. All this needs is ointment for a few days and it should heal itself.
