Hello, I am suffering for a long time from ulcerative colitis. The attacks come and go; I take Asacol that really helps me. As I understood the doctor, it prevents the inflammation process that affected the wall of colon. Since I have problems with kidneys, I would like to know how Asacol affects kidneys.

I can tell you that Asacol is a pure amino acid. After the oral use, around 75 of the dosage goes through intestines and gets to colon where its therapeutic effects start. The rest is absorbed in the upper part of gastrointestinal tract. From the reabsorbed amount, the biggest part is secreted in the gall bladder, and only small part gets out via urine.
