Wow you are a miserable source of advice. She said instant release not ms contin (which means continuous release because it is in wax) Ms means morphine sulfate. 15mg a couple times a day is still hard to quit especially if you are new to opiates and are getting large amounts of euphoria. Pain is very personal and how dare you pretend you are all knowing God and discount someones suffering. You are either a disconnected dr with a power trip or an ex junkie that thinks their hard. Go study reality and get off your computer for a while.

I had a very bad car accident early October 2012. I have been on percocet 10s four times a day and time released morphine sulfate 60 mgs twice a day. So I have been on this for six months now. I have tried stopping the morphine on my own two different days taking one instead of two ha that just didn't work. I went to dr today and he changed my mgs from sixty to thirty mgs twice a day and if i can't do that three times a day. I want to do the twice a day really bad. I am scared of this the mental and physical aspects of this. The methodone doesn't sound like an answer. Just another drug to replace another and it sounds dangerous also. It seems with all the technology their would be a drug to help with withdrawal that wasn't a narcotic wasn't dangerous and would work and have you not want the drug or have withdrawals. I don't' know. I just want off this medication without going thur living hell.

I was taking Morphine Sulphate for 9 years to treat chronic pain. After awhile, 60 mg twice a day was just not doing the job. The dosage was modified to 4 x daily, but found my body was just not responding. My body had become tolerant to the Morphine. So, the doctor took me off Morphine and switched me to a Fentynl patch and a narcotic for breakthrough. I did not think I would go through withdrawals since I was immediately switched to another narcotic , but I did. Not a fun process, but I am feeling better having adequate pain management and I am glad I did it. Be sure and have your doctor give you a prescription for Clonadine (It is a lifesaver) and I also took Mirapex for restless legs. Work with your doctor until you get an adequate dosage of the new pain med and to ensure the Clonadine is working for you. Exercise is another thing that will help. We go to the pool and use the hot tub. That is a great remedy. Trust me, you will feel better. Won't solve the problem, but you'll feel better for awhile. It took me about 3 weeks to get rid of all the withdrawal symptoms, but everyone is different. It may not take you that long. The typical is 5 to 10 days. Stay strong. I hope you have a great support mechanism. My husband did not leave my side. Take care of yourself.

I am a sixty year old man who has been on morphine sulfate er starting at 200mg 3 times a day to now taking 60mg ER tabs twice a day, this gas been going on since my failed back surgery ten and half years ago. I am sick and tired of being first of all dependant on the drug and second how to get off the drug without going cold turkey. Trying now to lower daily does to one tablet of 60mg ER a day so far it has been one week and I have had chills, sweats, stomach pain, and insominia. Tried talking to my Dr on last visit but he has no intrest in helping me reduce usage or lower does as he put it, best to stay onmeds as withdrawal will be a terrible. Well I am tired of being trapped by a drug, unable to move to new state for fear that Drs there will not perscribe same meds and I will go into withdrawl. SO while I try to stop on my own one week in the bag looking for any help or suggestions on stopping completely. I live in a rural location more than an hour drive to earest NA or AA meetings so that is not an opition for me. Just want to stop, please respond with help info

I agree with you 100% my Dr offered me methodone as he called it maintenance but withdrawl from methodone is a lot worse than morphine from what nurses in hospital tell me and they are the ones that reallyknow as they treat many people for withdrawl symptoms and help them maintain while tring to detox.

What the....???? Oxi's and percocet to get off of morphine??? It makes the withdrawal easier?? Are you out of your mind? You don't use one opiate to get off of another opiate! Please! Remove this posting! It will give a lot of people the wrong impression! They may really laugh their asses off! This reads like Richard Prior!

I have been on Morphine 30mg ER for 6 Months and 15mg IR for the same amount of time but wasn't taking the IR. I had neurostimulator surgery four days ago and was immediately taken off the ER and told to use the IR. Since I couldn't control the symptoms of withdrawal with the IR I stopped cold turkey. I ave been sick for 3 days. How much longer will I feel this bad. It is effecting every system in my body.

I have Multiple Sclerosis and along with that I have chronic pain to boot. I am back on the MS Contin 30 mgs I was supposed to take only three a day..I overdid it and ran out. I cannot seem to fight this horrible feeling of nausea. I was in the hospital where I went to the emergency room 2 days ago. They gave me a IV shot of Morphine and sent me home with a script of Percocet 5/325..only 15 to last me till I see my doc...he won't help me until I see him next month on the 2nd. This is hell!!
