I AM ON 200 MG. MORPHINE A DAY. 100 IN AM & 100 IN PM. I ASKED MY DR. TO GET ME OFF MORPHINE, WITHOUT GOING INTO WITHDRAWEL. HE JUST ORDERED FROM VA. 15 MG., TAKEN 5 IN AM, ( 15 X 5 = 75 MG. IN AM, & THEN 15MG. X 4 =60 IN PM ) FOR A TOTAL OF 135 MG. DAILY, VERSUS 200 MG. A DAY. WILL THIS KEEP ME FROM GOING INTO HORRIBLE WITHDRAWEL ??? I CERTAINLY WOULD APPRECIATE YOUR ADVICE. I AM ON MORPHINE FOR SEVERE BACK & KNEE/ LEG CHRONIC PAIN & ARTHERITIS FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW.. I WILL CERTAINLY APPRECIATE YOUR ADVISE !!!

What is Va. 15 mg. Valium? If so you know that will work, although Valium is addictive! Very addictive! If this is true, try to not take the Valium until you start to feel uneasy, you know that feeling when your "throat feels thick" and you feel "Real" uneasy...take one then wait 20 mins and if you still feel bad take another one... slowly decrease the amnt. You will know when you are ready for another dose by "the way that you feel" At 200 mgs a day I would not attempt any drastic move until you bring your dose level "Way Down."
As far as Tramadol is concerned, I have never tried thst but have heard that "it works" try it and let us all know!

I have been taking 30mg ms contin for a little over a year now and am concerned with quitting. I dont take more than once per day, just in the am as soon as i wake up. I told my doctor I don't want to take it anymore and I refuse to pick up my rx. What should I expect in terms of withdrawal? Reading these posts seems everyone is taking much higher dosages than I am. I'm on my second day with no real symptoms other than the anxiety of expecting the worse.

After a slip up at my doctors I was given 3,500ml of Oramorph a month instead of 1,200ml. Over a period of 3 years I became addicted to Oramorph. A routine check by my doctor found out and called me in to see him. He then gave me Zomorph tablets that release over a 12 hour period. The problem with this is you do not get an instant high though it does cut down the cravings. The dose was lowered over a 3 month period until I just stopped. The symtons of reducing the dose are you can't sleep, you arms and legs keep jumping, you feel like sh-t and all you can think of is getting a hit of Oramorph. I have now been off them for 2 weeks and every day is getting better. I still keep thinking about how I felt when taking Oramorph and it's going to take a long time to get over it. I was lucky to have a good doctor that did not rush me off taking Oramorph but used Zomorph in doses over a period when I felt I could lower the dose myself. I also had a wife and sons who put up with my moods and encouraged me every day. It is not easy coming off Oramorph and it has made me realise that taking addicts to court is not the answer to curing drug addiction. I found it the hardest thing I have ever done just think what a drug addict feels, the effects must be 10 fold. I am not some 20 year old I'm 66 years old and was a Senior Manager who should have known better. It is so easy to take it but your body just keeps craving more. I still am not the person I was before taking it but I know one day I will. Good luck to anyone coming off drugs.
