I'm 37 years old ,taking aten 12mg in the evening for hypertension for last 3 years and glycomet 500mg for last 1 year . now my hypertension and diabetis well under control. now i want to stop these medicines
Is it possible to stop. If possible what kind of precautions / cares I need to take.

Well, certainly, you can stop taking the medications any time you want.

Unfortunately, if you do stop, your hypertension will return to its uncontrolled state resulting in a potential stroke or heart attack, and your type 2 diabetes will progress to an advanced state where you risk cardiovascular problems, possible blindness, and amputation of one or more limbs.

Sorry for being melodramatic, but that scenerio is not too far fetched. Your hypertension and diabetes are under control because of the medications. They did not cure you. They can only control the problems.

Do not stop taking the medications. You must take them (or similar ones) for the rest of your life.
