How long do dogs have thier period

I was wondering if anyone knows how many years a dauchshund has their period. Mine is 6 years old and Im wondering how many more years I will need to worry about it. Or if I should just go ahead and get her fixed.

well i carnt speak for all dogs , but i only found out about a year ago when my german sheperd got her first period, they normally only last for a week and they can get one any where from 3 to 5 time a year. if the bleedin becomes a problem u can always buy doggie pants or doggie tampons (yes im bein serious) but im not sure what there called. anyway hope this helped.
