Hi there guys.

I am 27 years old and by accident, I did something that I shouldn't and now, as a result, I have a torn ALC. I went to see my doctor and he told me that this case requires a surgery. Look, I really don't want to go to surgery. I am not scared of surgery, but I am scared that they can do something bad and that I won't be able to walk normal again like I used to. So, tell me, do you know. how long does it take to recover from a torn ACL without surgery?

It is hard to tell. But if your doctor told you that your case actually requires a surgery, then I think that this is something that you should do. Look, having problems with ACL tear injury can be really serious and you may want to treat it before it is too late.

I know that after surgical repair it takes about 6 months (still, depends on patients), so if you are led by the logic, it takes more to recover if you don't want to have a surgery.

Anyway, in both of cases, it needs to be a balance between therapy and psychotherapy that is also required in this case.

Hello there. You might wanna consider your doctor's suggestion. I mean, I would not say that this was a suggestion, it was something that he saw before and I am pretty sure that he knows what he is doing. Anyway, I am saying this because my cousin had problems with this. He was a  football player and when he had this accident, his doctor told him that he needs to have a surgery, and he was scared that this surgery somehow will prevent him from playing football, so he said no. And the hell started. He wanted to recovery alone, but that was not possible. After three months, when he saw that he can't get better, he went to his doctor asking for this surgery. After the surgery, he was recovering for 7 months. I really think that I don't need to mention that he never played football after.

Ok, so after your comments and some information that I got from so many different sides, I have decided that I want to do this surgery because I am in pain and I also want to have more chances to do sports again and again. So, let's just say that I am a bit prepared for this thing, even if I am scared, I need to admit this to you. Why am I scared? Because I don't know what are the next moves, what I can expect about this whole situation, will I be OK after this or not? How many time I need to wait until I am recovered from this? Those all are the things that I am really scared, but I am aware that this injury in my case is heavy and that I need to do something about it.

It takes a long time, but it also has a possible side - effects that can happen to you. I mean, you can't ever be sure if this problem is gone or will it come back as soon as you move some other, bad move. So, this surgery won't last that long, but sure, you will have to get rest after this. I think that the worse thing is a post-operative rehabilitation, that can last like forever, but you need to understand that this is essential to maximize long-term outcomes. So, you should ask your doctor once and once again what is his recommendation, but don't run from the surgery.

Hi there. So, I am freshly recovered from this problem. I got it while I was at jogging with my friends, and I never do jogging. But, I wanted to be fit before the summer and I got this weird feeling a sharp pain in my knee. Mine diagnose - torn ACL, as you could imagine. A doctor told me that it is not that huge problem and that surgery can wait until we see what is going on. So, he recommended a couple of exercises, some supplements to see how this situation is going to work. So, after four weeks I was OK. I mean, I was brilliant. My story is positive, I can tell.

Hi guys.

I need to tell that I have never heard that someone got recovered within four weeks form this problem. I think that this was not this, but ok. My good friend had some option called an initial treatment, that had an aim to reduce swelling, regain any loss of movement of the knee. After that, this treatment should work on the progress of strength, power and stability training. In that case, his rehab program usually takes six months, but he was better after 3-month. But I think that it is not so possible to get recovered for just four weeks :/
