There is ALWAYS a chance of pregnancy.

In general, if you are on a 28 day cycle:

You can have sex from Day 1 (when your period starts) until about day 6.  You can also have sex from about day 18 on.

Between days 6 and 18 there is a chance of pregnancy and it increases near when you ovulate.  Normally that would be between days 11 and 16.  The egg can remain viable for about 48 hours after you ovulate.  Sperm can remain viable for about 5 days in your vagina.
