I wonder how many hours a week should I train to be a good cyclist? I keep hearing different numbers and am confused as to how much is enough. I would like to space my weekly training hours evenly so that I get most of my workouts. I would appreciate any suggestion. Thanks.

It depends on your goals and your current level of fitness. Some people will get by with 6-7 hours a week while others would not even consider it without working out at least 15-20 hours. You have to evaluate your present form and then compare it to the desired goal. Also you have to put it in a time frame to have more precise calculation. In other words you have to have exact goal say, improve your average speed to say, 23 mph in 6 months. If your average speed is for example 18 mph now then you have a lot to work. Maybe 6 months will not be enough. Then again maybe you can accomplish that in less time. You have to figure it out for yourself. Consulting with some more experienced colleagues may prove wise.
