I have just started cycling. I like to sprint as well as to ride long distances. I am not sure at what speed I should ride. What is good average cycling speed? I would like to know so that I can adjust my workouts. I heard that speed is very important.

You have just started to work out so I suggest that you don’t worry about speed. Start with what you can and work up to the average cycling speed gradually. Just try to be your best. If you schedule your workouts in such manner that you slowly increase the speed over the weeks and months, you will make it. May people can reach the average speed of 20 mph. They are able to hold on to that speed even on long distances. Some pros reach average of 25 mph on long distances.
