So I'm 21 years old, I'm a senior in college and I really want to get back into running! I did cross country my senior year of high school and I ran a marathon in October. I had a great time training for the marathon, I met with a group of runners every Saturday and Wednesday to run and train. I lost about 30lbs when I was training and for the most part I've managed to keep off all the weight. I still run but not near as much as I did when I was in cross country and did the marathon.

I really want to get back into running again but it's hard as a college student in my last year. Does anyone have any advice on how to get back into the swing of things? I have a busy schedule but I don't want to let that get in the way. I also wonder how many calories I should be taking in if I am going to be running again? Thanks!

Hi iRun,

It sounds like you're already running a little bit which makes starting up again so much easier! So I don't know how often you're running, but you may want to try running every other day for the distance you're already covering. This way you're increasing the frequency of your runs without increasing the distance.

On your off days, you could lift, cycle, or swim to keep your fitness up and help decrease any soreness in your legs.

Keep your runs modest, your pace easy, and your build-up gradual. Make sure you're doing "the little things" that help maintain your health.

Good luck!

Cheers,
-Jason.
