Im not a very experienced cyclist and after only a couple of months Ive decided to start with long distance routes. Up to now Ive had several long distance rides, the longest of which was 60 miles. I didnt have problems during it, but yesterday Ive noticed a sudden unpleasant sharp pain in my left foot. What can I do to prevent it? Ive also had mild cramps in my feet.

It is really unpleasant and sometimes can even lead to quitting the particular sport one is practicing, without trying to fix problems. There are many things that can cause these problems. Fore example, your shoes might be inappropriate. If theyre too tight and put too much pressure on your feet which can stop blood flow. You should find a pair of shoes that will fit you. Insoles are can also be the cause and they should be carefully chosen. Another thing is that youve probably exaggerated a bit. The length of the route must be gradually increased and I think that three months of cycling is not enough to prepare you for a 60-mile ride so instantly. The cramps can also be caused by all this. Besides, you have to be aware that cycling is a demanding sport and sometimes youll encounter difficulties and occasional health problems.
