You prevent PTB by staying away from people that are infected with the bacteria.

If you HAVE PTB, you need antibiotics to treat it - prescription antibiotics from your doctor.  The wrong medication, using someone else's prescription or not taking it for a long enough period, will make the PTB worse and much harder to treat.
