For such attacks of multiple sclerosis, high doses of corticosteroids are often the only thing that will help. I am assuming that you friend is already reciving some kind of treatment, most likely the above mentioned? MS can be really horrible to all those involved. As christan965 has already said the best treatment option for the inflammation of the brain when a person is suffering with MS is therapy with corticosteroids. Of course your friend needs to consult her doctor before this.
And it is great that you are so helpful to your friend because I know that taking care about person who is suffering from MS sometimes can be very hard. My aunt was dignosed with MS few years ago and I am trying as much as I can to be there for her but sometimes it can be really hard.
