This may sound strange but mouthwash dampens the odour. It makes sense since it is antibacterial (kills mouth bacteria, right?). One brand I use is common and it has eucalyptus and menthol in it, which is soothing. Another which would work is Stanhexidine 4%

Yep I'm currently on humira which helps greatly but it's not a cure..helps better then anything I have ever used or heard of.. for the smell I would say tea tree oil and turmeric..combine ingredients into a paste, smear it on for a few ticks...

Great information. I will definitely get a brush for my armpit maybe a facial brush instead. Will start using safeguard antibacterial. You mentioned products that I haven't tried. Going lowcarb/carb free helped me tremendously. My condition went into remission within 2 to 3 weeks.

So I was just diagnosed with Lupus. As many of you are aware, it takes years to figure out. I am super holistic and went through a SUPER stinky phase about a year ago. I tried everything. Lemons were my answer. I kept Lemon wedges cut up and with me at all times. 3-4x a day I would rub on my pits, and under my boobs. My friends and husband laughed all the time and nicknamed me Country Time like the lemonade but it worked. Eventually I went back to deodorant.

External products and methods to mask odor are somewhat helpful but I would suggest a different viewpoint. One from within the body.
What you eat will inform your cells and influence the odor of flares.
Reduce the amount of processed foods, animal flesh, and junk foods and you'll notice a stark reduction in body odors of all kinds. (IMO)
But fair warning, it did take a year after diet change until I noticed the benefit.

Also, if you're a long time sufferer and have learned to drain your own "small" flares, make sure you keep flowing. When those chambers start getting membranes and create larger abscesses it leaves the gunk susceptible to odor.

Good luck everyone.
And remember to resist anyone who tries to blame you for this disease.

Get Hibiclens at Walmart, and do not get it in your eyes or ears. Use it daily and your body sweat will get better and go away. Use it in your underarms, under the breasts, genital region, and your entire bottom and upper thighs. Wash your entire body with it, at first, but remember not to get in your eyes or ears. Wash all your clothes with Dawn and vinegar, maybe even a touch of bleach, to make sure you're killing the bacteria on your clothes. Think about any other area where you could be spreading bacteria and disinfect it, also. Do not mess with the skin. Don't pick at it, or it will never stop.

I ALSO have SLE Lupus and hidradenitis suppurativa, which lead me to this discussion. Thank you all. Also, does anyone get excruciating low back pain that radiates into the buttocks and legs? This could be bacteria in the pilonidal sinus. I promise there are cures and better treatments anywhere but in America, where the doctors just want to prey on us. Anyone ever hear of any cure? I'm ready to be the guinea pig.
