I too removed mine with a scalpel and tweezers. It was painful but worth it.

My eye doctor compared them to kidney stones, rough calcium deposits that form under the eyelid and are painful, he did a very simple procedure, numbing eye drops, turned the eyelid inside out and scapled off the crystal. He said they are likely to form others and that's happened. I've had 6 or 7 removed. And just got tired of going back and started using warm compresses and rub the lid against the orbital bone to break it up-- it's worked till now, I've got one I just can't get rid of, so I guess it's back to eye doctor. Don't accept it when your eye doctor says it requires surgery or nothing can be done, it's a very simple fix!!!

I had been to the eye doctor about 6 mths ago with my complaint that my eye always feels like there is a piece of sand in my eye scratching it. He found about 40 of the calcium encrustations and was able to numb my eye and remove 4 of them immediately. The others were too embedded. I had instant relief. Today I am going back because they are bothering me again. He did tell me it was chronic and he could remove them as he could when they start to bother me again.

Go to your local eye hospital. It should be just a walk in centre. They cut my partners out with no problems.

I had a kidney stone a year ago and I can assure you that it's not quite the same but I get what your doctor means and there is a build up that results in a lot of pain and discomfort! The difference is that with a kidney stone condition you can adopt a diet that minimizes your risk for recurrence. Also, once it passes, you're ok again. But with calcium deposits I know of no diet that can do the same. I will say that there are other factors that can add to your discomfort--like dry eyes. I live in the US and take an omega-3 capsule called TheraTears. I used to use Restasis but eventually stopped because my eyes improved. So now I have some Celluvisc by Refresh (small plastic vials) on hand for when I experience any discomfort. My calcium deposits are not really a chronic condition. I had them removed with a syringe once a few years ago and haven't had any more since. But I do still have a tiny embedded one and some dryness in the same area (upper right of right eye) so I make sure to lubricate when it's acting up. It's always so comforting to read how you all manage your own discomfort at home!

I have read that putting Olive oil on your eyelids everynight will both help disolve the bumps you have and help prevent new ones. Wash your eyes and dry them and put massage olive oil into the lids EVERY night and within a month you are supposed to see quite a differenc. They say you can use aloe as well but that has to be put on 2x a day then washed off a few hours later. It seems like the olive oil makes more sense.
