I Clean Kitchen vent hoods with 98% sodium hydroxide, soap, and water. Whenever I get exposed to the chemicals, I immediately remove any clothing that came into contact with it. Rinse the affected area with cold water until the soapy feeling is gone. Splash vinegar AFTER the water rinse. Then rinse the vinegar off with water. Btw try not to breathe the fumes unless you want to scorch your throat and lungs.

Actually, the guy probably does know what he is talking about, considering the products of the neutralization reaction would be acetate and water. Far less harmful than leaving sodium hydroxide on your skin, especially in high concentrations.

Water will NOT neutralise sodium hydroxide lol. Someone failed highschool chemistry. Sodium hydroxide is basically the stuff in draino. When water touch sodium hydroxide, the chemical reaction creates a lot of and you can get serious chemical burns.

Not sure about NaOH but at work I work with KOH (potassium hydroxide) and we have boric acid sinks they tell us to rinse the KOH off with. I have heard water is the best bet. Never heard of vinegar not would I ever want to put vinegar on myself and smell it the rest of the day.

My friend, who is a loving mom, can not stand more than 2 hours without swelling and knots on her leg. The doctor can't find a pulse since her accident with sodium hydroxide got on her thigh. What should we do?
