I have fibromyalgia too... and had a radical hysterectomy with complications. This was on June 18, 2015. Lost so much blood during surgery they thought they'd have to do a blood transfusion. During the surgery the doctor found my colon literally plastered to the back of my uterus. He said it looked like someone had brushed glue on and just stuck it on. He said he was able to remove it - without having to do anything to colon... remains to be seen if that is true or not..... I have had constant colon/bowel problems.... have to drink some Magnesium Citrate every day in order to have a BM. Colace, stool softener and lots of water and fruits and vegetables don't do the trick. I feel like I was lied to.... why don't these damn doctors tell us everything... I probably would have never had the stupid surgery.. The first couple of weeks at home were not to bad... I spent nearly 7 days in the hospital..... but things then started to change.... I feel like I have bricks in my abdomen area... literally hard bricks... one above the belly button and one on each side and lower... it hurts to have to get out of bed or up from a chair and bend that area.....hurts like a stabbing pain at that time. I can't sit too long... I can't walk too much ... and it even stared hurting at night....I tried putting the corset type thingee back on that they sent me home from the hospital with.... that worked for a few days...... it helps to have it on during the day .. then I have to take it off at night... then one night the pain was so bad I did not get to sleep until after 6AM... another night it was 8 AM. Sleep is a problem .....I was wearing a spanx with the legs cut off at night... until one night - it made it worse...... now I don't know what to do...I have an apt this coming Wed.... to see the surgeon - I finally called his office and the nurse said he is most concerned about the swelling that has taken place over the pubic area this last week....I am thankful to have read all these posts.. I am going to print this out and give it to him to read.... and I know now not to bother with colonoscopies, and other tests and procedures... I just pray to die.... I am 59 and cannot live with this pain.

SharonL here. Just wanted to say 'Me Too'. I had a complete hyster in 2005 and slowly, since then, the pain in my sigmoid colon area is getting worse and worse. Seems like gas traps in there and have had a very hard time evacuating completely. Always feel like something is stuck in there. Like one lady said, it feels like I have a brick above the bend in the sigmoid colon. Had a colonoscopy (3 times in 2 days) and they had great difficulty getting the colonoscope through the bend. They showed me pics that say I am clean, but that was after three days, in a row, of taking the meds to clean me out (LOL). I never want to have another colonoscopy because it was so very painful. No meds kept me from feeling the pain. This is really making my life tough to handle.

I didn't have hysterectomy but I've read that there can be some damage of the pudendal nerve during hysterectomy. Pudendal nerve is responsible for bowel movement and lot of people who suffer from pudendal neuralgia have problems with bowel movements ( constipation, pain with bowel movements etc.). Unfortunately most of the doctors aren't familiar with pudendal neuralgia or pudendal nerve damage. Maybe this is your problem. Sorry for my english, I am not a native speaker. God bless you all!

I had an abdominal hysterectomy june 2014 (17 months ago)
Suffered from pelvic pain, periodic vomiting, nausea, constipation. After many tests, I went to colon surgeon who said I had dysbiosis in gut from surgery and antibiotics given in hospital. I had a 18 cm fibroid removed. The surgeon suggested probiotic called VSL#3. Along with Florastor. Twice a day. Within three weeks i was much better but not all the way. Went to functional medicine doctor who helped heal gut with suppliments like zinc carosine, L-glutamine, and eliminating FODMAP foods that cause cramps and gas. Also eliminated dairy and gluten. Used plant protein powder shakes with bananas three times a day. Within two months bowel movements normal and bloating and pain gone after being sick for over a year. Functional medicine goes outside the health insurance controlled medicine. But they are trained md. I paid $1000 but getting my Heath back was so worth it. Surgery on pelvis disrupts flora in intestines, causing many symptoms. Regular doctors in USA wont explain this because the evaluation is complex, mine was three hours. Suppliments from doctors are higher quality than drugstores. Hope this helps someone suffering, just trying to pay it forward

even though some of these posts are very old I was happy to find a place with women I have many things in common with it's very frustrating when doctors look at you like they feel nothing is wrong with you but you are in dire need of painkillers because of the bloating the cramps and the pain on a daily basis I just had my colonoscopy for about the 5th time yesterday and just land an omission of processed foodsike the last time it could not be completed because of a sharp bend in my colon apparently while I was under I experienced an immense amount of pain that required more pain killer and anesthesia while I was still under I feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck. I too have searched the internet in hopes to find an answer and it was always in my head my hysterectomy I had in 2008 after a laparoscopy could not get all the endometriosis which resulted in the following full hysterectomy and following that bowel problems I was first diagnosed with Crohn's because of ulcers that could be seen and inflammation of the bowel. also a diagnosis of slight diverticulosis. I've tried many Crohn's disease medications to no availdue to financial situation I had to stop the medications but the pain goes onI was just tested for celiac yesterday and awaiting the results
during my recent research I came across an interesting thing called FODMAP like the woman above me mentioned I found it quite intriguing. I'm starting to think seeing a natural doctor may help me in cleaning out my system and healing it I have spoken to other people who have similar problemsand they have had great results with changing to a more natural diet meaning supplements and the removal of processed foods. the sad part about this whole process is there is so many of us out there going through the same thing but feeling like we are alone managing the pain the best we can when everyone around us feels that it's in our head

I get monthly colonic which seems to help. My pain is on the right. I've had a colon scope, which was normal. Then had a bad ct which reveal that my ascending colon is large and dropped lower in my abd. I believe this all start after my hysterectomy!

I am Shelly, we should cluster our cases and sue to get them to fix our problems with something to put our bowels back in the space of our abdomens they are suppose to be even after a hysterectomy and make them find a solution for this problem! This is horrible that all of us are suffering and no one is trying to find a solution!!! We need to contact one another and some lawyers so these doctors get this in order and stop this surgery until they can find a solution to this horrible problems going wrong after receiving this surgery! We need to educate the public so this doesn't keep happening to women!!!!!!!!!!!!

lets get all the ladies this has happen to and start a way to contact each other to do something about this happening to us women without some kind of intervention for other women who are looking for solutions to their problems in life and they think this surgery will be the right thing because they do it for anyone who wants it and it should not be just an elective surgery!!! They should be more informed about the problems it causes us women days to years later in life! I am Shelly, I am an author and a chronic sufferer of the same problems you speak of from the same surgery!
