I had a total hysterectomy, I started experiencing bloatingto were I looked like I was 7 months pregnant. I spoke to tbe Obgyn who stated she had to repair my rectal and cystial area and she may have tighten to tight. I am miserable and looks like nothing can be done to correct the problem I can go for 4 to 5 days without having a bowel movement. Ihave experience the blood when I so have a bowel movement.

Hope things are better. I suspect that some of the endometriosis was missed if it is flaring up like your period. As the still works on a "cycle" if it is not all removed. Or so, says some of my research. Biggest problem is that they can not detect this until they go in to remove it. I know that isn't all that helpful. But, I have heard what you need is an endometriosis specialist. None around me, but if you find one, they seem to be more helpful. Good Luck!

I was admitted to the hospital in extreme pain 4 days after my hysterectomy 3 months ago. I was given Lactulose after enema, etc etc. It worked, and since that day, I have had the most regular bowels of my entire adult life. Can't explain it, but it's a miracle!

I am so sorry for what you are going through.
I was very reluctant to go online and research this type of problem after having a hysterectomy For the simple reason. I had my uterus removed one Ovarie both tubes hernia and bladder correction. This was back in August 2016. My bowels were perfect for about 3-4 months after the surgery but from November until now it has been a nightmare.
I am 54 I have always been very health-conscious exercise 5 to 6 days a week eat very healthy drink lots of water. As of now I have terrible stomach bloating I can eat very little at a time I have to drink mostly shakes, I am unable to have bowel movements, terrible pain in the left side of my stomach. And my story is nothing compared to some of these poor woman that is suffering from this. I too have lost all faith in doctors
I had my surgery at one of the best hospitals in the country. My surgeons told me that I would continue to have regular periods. I haven't had a period since my surgery back in August 2016. I haven't had a period since my surgery back in August 2016.
my surgeon was not honest with me they tell you you are going to be fine after the surgery no problems everything will be fine and you'll be back to normal. I can go on and on. This is been very painful and frustrating. Thanks for letting me share and my prayers for all the women that are going through this ❤️

I'm compelled to ask for clarification. I know the topic is GI issues after a hysterectomy (which I can attest to!). But are you saying that your doctor said you should expect to continue to have regular periods after having your uterus and both tubes removed?

to answer everyone. I am sooo not sure what's wrong with your gyns and gastro doctors...but both mine told me i would have constipation and trapped gas at times FOREVER after I had my hysterectomy. they told me where the uterus was, the bowel will fall into and create a problem "pooping" thus it sits there and hardens...(the poop that is)...(laymans terms)...the gastro gave me linzess to help and it does help a whole lot. he told me when i have to, to use it with miralax or an enema. you just have to be diligent with your bowels after they hysterectomy. but I was definitely made aware of this after my hysterectomy.

I am so glad I found these post. I had a complete hysterectomy in 2005 at 37 yrs old. i am now 49 and was recently diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis. Doctor said I have had it for years and now have calcification. I am one of the rare 10% that has this with no explanation. I am not a drinker nor does anyone in my family have anything like this. I also have left sided flank pain that radiates to my back and hip. I have been to see every kind of doctor and have been checked for autoimmune disorders, RA Lupus, etc..... I just had a colonoscopy and awaiting the biopsy results. I suffer daily with pain, unpredictable bowel problems, fever, exhaustion, dehydration and have been hospitalized twice since January. I wish this on no one! I have been very depressed and have been told this will never improve but only worsen. I will eventually be under the care of pain management and living on opioids. I believe that having a hysterectomy at such a young age has caused me to develop many health conditions such as diabetes (which could also be related to the pancreas) thyroid problems, depression and anxiety and age faster than someone my age who has not had this surgery. Best wishes to all.

I am having the exact symptoms. Full Hysterectomy oct 2015. Immediate bowel problems. Now I have Diverticulitus, GERD, Polyps, and acid reflux and a rectal prolapse. I was very regular before. I eat super clean, Non-GMO, Organic etc. and an now barely eating or small meals. I take probiotics, aloe juice, glutamine, digestive enzymes and all kinds of other healthy foods and supplements when I can eat. I am bloated, pelvic & stomach pain, acid, sore throat, nausea to mention a few. this seems to be a real problem. Interesting that doctor's don't seem to know??

Well, we are not alone ladies!
Total hysterectomy 13 yrs ago aged 40, fighting fit to total wreck. Diverticulitis started 5 yrs ago, just told me to eat more fibre! Not good as I have developed IBS and fibre rich foods are too painful! I eat clean now, minimal processed foods, cook from fresh every day, no caffeine and no smoking. It has helped hugely, but bowels are so unpredictable. Mornings can be spent going up to 7 times or once. Always immediate as soon as pain starts.
Even so, a bout last October sent me to the ER. Pain was indescribable. After 4 days of strong painkillers, x-Ray's & CT scan, I was discharged. Spent the next 2 months in bed on strong painkillers. Since January, I've been bleeding from my vagina. I could set the clock by the pain and resultant light flow which followed. I've seen a gastrologist and gynaecologist. Had more ultrasound, CT, MRI, sigmoidoscopy and every other oscopy. Nothing. I now bleed every day. Light, but every day. It feels as though the top of my vagina is tugging at something. Pain with that and bowels is miserable. Seeing both specialists again 1st August. I don't hold out much hope. The worst part? Not being able to plan anything unless there is access to a loo. We are staying with relatives for few days soon and I am absolutely dreading it. How can I explain the frequent trips to the loo? What if it is being used and I need to go? What if I make everyone late because I can't got off the loo? My husband is so active and I feel like I'm about 80 and holding him back.

I had a full hysterectomy and was cut from hip to hip. I have been through a lot and still continue as 1 month after surgery I started with severe fibromyalgia which has controlled my life since. As for your question on constipation You need to order Swiss Kriss from Swanson s vitamins it is the only thing that works and is all natural. It might take 2 or 3 pills in 1 day to get you cleaned out then take 1 a day ! They are dirt cheap $10 a bottle and they work!!!!
