I found out that I was 8 weeks pregnant (now 12). Before I found out the news I was a heavy smoker. Since I have known I have cut down significantly to 1-2 times per week for nausea, stomach pains and major irritability to everything. My husband was ok with it at first but he keeps telling me if something is deformed with our child he is going to blame it on me and my habit. I do plan to quit before the baby is born but I feel like I need to do it slowly so I don't freek out in lamest terms. Are there any major health risks that I am taking even though I have cut back majorly in this habbit??

Hi,
I don't agree with smoking during pregnancy at all. However, if you ask your gynecologist, if you are a smoker, they will tell you to gradually cut back slowly until you're not smoking anymore. When you are a smoker and you become pregnant, your baby feeds off of the addiction...so by stopping completely, you're putting your baby through withdrawals versus gradually weaning her off of it.
Smoking is definitely not a good thing but you should really talk to your gynecologist about this.
