Its definitely dust that somehow gotten inside your computer casing - its jamming the fans and that slows things up. It will be solved immediately and not serious problem as I think you should care of it.

Yep, well, I said like zillion times - I will finally take out all the trash that piled up in my room... still doesn't make it any more true. So, is there an answer you would like to hear, or do you just want our sympathy :-P

That sounds like your hard drive is about to take a dirt nap. I would look into replacing it before you lose everything that's on it. I don't know how to do it myself but the guy who fixes my computers for me installs a new drive and copies over everything that was on the old one so I don't need to reinstall any programs or hardware. When he's done it's just like it was before only with a lot more space on the new, larger drive which usually works a lot faster too.

The dist clings to the fans and then knocks them out of balance which in turn makes a grinding noise. I have the same problem with my speakers too except they like to pop and make weird noises at night. i have another set of speakers to replace them with but I'm just lazy. I have 5 hard drives as well and they like to spin up and down as they please.

Rapidfire, you are going to be called an id**t, just as I was few posts earlier - dust might get into our plain-folk computers, but no way does that happen to his! And if anyone could draw him a chart (well, task manager could) that its the processor fans that are blocked by this not-for-this-guy-no-way dust so it has to work harder and make more noise when its opening a large word doc... blah... geek talk is not for girls....beeep :-) no point, just a friendly warning :-)

I have been called much worse than an id**t in my life time.

A dying hard drive will make more noise than a fan spinning up and down. Smokers don't help either.

i have ears that work perfectly well that i can use to work out where the noise is coming from right now. i just did. like i have mulitple times just to check for you smarmy fuckheads so i can say my fans arnt making any noise. i never said my fans can never get dust in them, i said very plainly that the noise isnt coming from them. as for replacing a hardrive, i cant afford that :S i have a slave drive which i keep all my personal files including program and game files so if my main hard drive fails all i have to do is install a new hardrive with windows 7 and its plug and go back to where i was minus the speaker noise (hopefully). and i dont think replacing the speakers will make a difference. i tried plugging in headphones and the noise remains. this is really deppressing knowing a computer which is less than 6 mounths old has already screwed up. ive had to reinstall it myself multiple times, but never was able to wipe the hardrive as i dont have the tech to do so, but i know my fair deal about computers, i could put in a new hardrive and install it myself if i wanted. i just cant afford it. dont bother telling me to get a job cus im tryin to. and right now im more interested in getting my L's.

What kind of motherboard do you have in your system. Who's sound card is installed? Is it on board or a PCI-E card? Or is it a generic like Dell or HP?

The only reason I mentioned the HD is because every time I've had a HD that was on it's way out it made a lot of noise when I was using it.

I have a laptop with Vista that does all kinds of strange things when I'm not using it unless I completely turn it off. If I just close the lid it will wake up and go boop-beep, beep-boop and brrrrrrr like a Thompson gun. I discovered that one night when I slept in my chair due to my back. It woke me up in the middle of the night with all those noises. Even though the cover was closed, the display was lighting up and shutting off. The modem is set to NOT wake it up so I guess it must be a Vista thing or maybe the Norton AV program that Comcast supplies with cable.

Oh dude you have got to get rid of Norton AV. I know its free and all but it couldn't protect a moth that is attracted to light. (Bad metaphor, only thing I could think of.) Get something real like Kaspersky or AVG. if your computer was set for WOL you computer would never go to sleap. It would be awake every time a packet was thrown at it.

It is better you get your system serviced for any clogs in the fan, HDD problem or speaker problems. Is any electronic device like radio is kept near the speakers? That could also be a reason for the beeping sound that you get from speakers.
