I have been dealing with this ever since I started smoking bud heavily (It's been about 5 years.) It's weird because I describe it to my wife in the very same words, "I feel like I am stoned all the time." That is exactly me!

I feel like I'm in this dreamy, surreal, foreign world and it's scary as hell when I stop to think about who I am now relative to who I was before I dealt with this hell.

I've never brought it to a doctor's attention because, it seems to abstracts, thus ineffable. You didn't mention when this all came into existence, was it in correlation with smoking bud? If so we're in the same boat my friend.

I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

I was a pot user for years so it could definitely be that. Doctors still have no idea what it is.

bridge of sighs, i am you man. although, tbh, i haven't tried anything or told anyone, no meds, or anything. people think i'm just a little random is all. But my view of everything, it doesn't seem real to me. it's kind of hard to explain.  my thing is though that i'm pretty well convinced that i was abducted by aliens, or something. aand i have thoughts that may not even be my own. this may sound like a hoax, especially from someone who always seems pretty normal, but i don't feel normal at all. so please, let me know if any of that is similar to you, or if anyone has ANY answers... cause i'm beginning to obsess this.

I'm not sure if this will make anyone feel any better but I've felt this way for years too.  It started with intermittent episodes at the age of 18 coupled with panic/anxiety attacks because I didn't know what was happening; I thought I was going to pass out or die or something – it was beyond scary.  Somewhere around my mid 20’s it became a permanent sensation.  Over the next 20 years the intensity of the feeling has increased by 100 fold.  I’m 44 now and to be honest I can’t remember what it felt like not to have this spacey detached perception of reality.  I tend to describe it as feeling ‘contained’ by the density of the world around me…if that doesn’t sound too bizarre.  I still work (I have a degree in engineering) and run my house and care for my family.  I guess I just wanted to say that it gets easier to live with and to take comfort in the fact there are far more people out there that feel this way than you might think.  You're not alone :)

You guys all need to read 'Waking the Tiger, Healing Trauma' by Peter Levine....You probably smoked pot because it's the best relief of PTSD symptoms available and it makes you feel normal....The "in a dream" feeling is classic PTSD. Self regulation therapy works, it's very difficult but definitely works

It could be a food allergy. I think it is for me. Please tell me if you've figured it out.
I got this feeling like I'm dreaming all the time like everything is a dream. I did a diet once where you only eat animal products for a month. About 1 week after I stopped is when everything started. I went back to a similar diet and felt normal almost instantly. I was eating a very restrictive diet and it was a high fat low carb diet. I say this because I'm not sure whether its eliminating something/somethings that made me feel fine or whether eating low carb(moderate protein) made me feel fine. I believe its because of eliminating a food or foods. I'm feeling that way now as I went back to eating anything and about 1 week later started feeling bad again. I feel tired all the time and like I'm dreaming all the time. I really feel its a food allergy in my case, I also have stomach problams which started/significantly increased about 2 years before I started feeling this way(like I said above after what I started feeling this way.)
Please tell me how you are now and whether you feel the same way or you've figured out what was wrong.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE

I BEG YOU to read this. I got this feeling and I'm almost sure its a food allergy for me. I did a very restrictive diet and felt better went back to eating anything and I'm back to feeling that way. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reply. Basically what I would recommend you do is eat beef for 3 days and see how you feel. Maybe more than 3 days as you've had this issue for a long time but at least try 3 days at first. PLEASE reply I really care because I think I know how you feel but the problem is almost no one believes me or takes me seriously.

PLEASE READ MY COMMENT.
I've got this feeling of like I'm always dreaming. I did a diet for where you only eat animal products. I did it for a month and then stopped. 1 week after I stopped I started feeling tired all the time, I got migraines sometimes, I went back to a restrictive diet and felt better but then went back to normal eating and about a week later I started feeling tired. I feel tired all the time, I feel like I'm in a dream. I am pretty sure its food related and I would recommend you eat only beef for 3 days at least and see how you feel.
PLEASE REPLY to my comment whether you're feeling better now or not.
